After the ‘Zatte’, this is the oldest beer from Brouwerij ‘t IJ. Natte is classed as a ‘dubbel’, a Belgian category of smooth, dark beers. Because we partly use dark malt, Natte has a reddish-brown colour and a smooth, roasted flavour with earthy tones of brown sugar, nuts and plums. Completed with slightly bitter hops, this is a nicely balanced beer and one of the brewery’s classics.

Bitt off of my excpectations about Dubbel. Semi dark malts, light roast, bit raisins, standard tij corduroy, some dark fruits. Light sweetness with moderate to light bitterness. One time try.

Plum, raisin, malty. Rich aroma. Kind a too pushy taste with too much sugarish, plummy aftertaste. Drinkable. Too pushy and sweet.

Bottle at terrace in Amsterdam, hazy brown-red colour beer. Unlike other doubles this beer isn’t really sweet. Medium carbonation. Chocolaty flavour.

Bottle at Pieter/Charlotte’s leaving party. Nice head, quite brown, another excellent Dubbel. It’s from a small microbrewer in A’dam. A bit sweet and thinner than most Dubbels.
