   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 9/10   PALATE 5/5   OVERALL 16/20
Vaiz (1847) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - NOV 26, 2009
Pours murky amber with a thick creamy off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves some lacing and rocky floaters. Aroma is a bit dusty, of oak, malt, alcohol and has a hint of varnish in it. Taste is a lot better, quite sweet, some hoppy bitterness with a decent bitter finish. Well balanced. Palate is great, very smooth beer, gulps down as if meant to go that way. Medium carbonation. Was a bit skeptical after the sharp aroma, but really quite like it now.

Had this on tap at the brewpub, Amsterdam, 27th Oct 2009 Pours murky amber with a whitefilmy head. This has a slightly muted nose but there is a touch of vanilla and spice. Good warmth from the alcohol, this like the other beers is quite lovely. A7 A3 F7 P4 Ov15 3.6

0,33 l bottle, bought in Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam
The beer has a nice appearance with a hazy dark brown body and a nice creamy tan head. It has an unpleasant sourish-earthy acedic aroma with some toffe and toasted caramel. The flavor is similar too with its own earthy character...All the brews of t’ij has this earthy and a little bit infected character....I do not know again....It has the nice toffee and belgian yeast characters...But over there is some troublesome character in the flavor...

25/09/2009. 330ml bottle from Beerstore. Hazy red-brown. Puts forth the gorgeous dark figgy fruits of dubbel-lore but they fade to autolysis and I can’t make it through the last third of the bottle... this beer really has potential but don’t we all. The most positive point is the stand of head that holds firmer and longer than George W Bush did to his belief that invading Iraq was justified.

One of the nicest looking beers I’ve had in a long time, though I had to pour very carefully to avoid the big chunks of yeast in the bottle. Luminous reddish amber with a fluffy beige head sitting in a glass goblet. Luckily the rest of the beer backs up the appearance. Spicy, fresh nose, with all sorts of aromas fleeting in and out of perception. A deep draught brings frsh brown bread, caramel, figs, coriander, and brown sugar. The finish is a touch sweet and some more carbonation would be nice, but I’m totally nitpicking.

Svesse (4215) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 31, 2009
(Draught at Brouwerij ’t IJ, Amsterdam, 3 Aug 2009) Cloudy amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark bread and dried fruit. Malty taste with prunes, raisins, caramel, dark bread and a moderate, spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, rather sweet. Decent, but nothing exceptional.
