Bottled: Clear dark amber coloured. Huge light beige head. Malt, spices, citrus in the aroma. Caramel, spices and malt in the flavour, that has some fruity accents as well. Last medium long on the palate

Bottle. Creamy white excellent fully lasting head. Cloudy amber colour. Light malty/hoppy/yeasty aroma. Ok flavor, but overwhealming mangonotes like other ’t IJ beers. Average finish. Oily palate but way too fizzy.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, amber to copper colour with a medium-sized and slightly beige foamy head. Yeasty spicy and sweet cara-malty aroma with berry-fruity and nutty notes. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Cara-malty, slightly toasted and moderately fruity taste with notes of berries, cacao and a nutty touch; moderately sweet malty and hop bitter finish with caramel and subtle fruity notes in the aftertaste. Interesting but lacks a bit body. 19.XII.10

imdownthepub (7131) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 23, 2010
Bottle conditioned, 330ml at Cafe D’Engel, Delft. Cloudy amber with white head. Quite a spicy nose with a peppery note, some sharp bitter orange notes, quite skinny then a caramel aftertaste. Nice on a warm day sat in the square in Delft.

Bottle from the brewpub. Pours hazy dark amber with a foamy beige head. Aroma of dark caramel tinged with chocolate. Full bodied with foamy carbonation. Cooked fruit and spice, but I still think there’s a touch of cacao here. Finishes a little yeasty and more bitter. Good.

On tap at Brouwerij ’t Ij, Amsterdam on 3 April 2011. Murky dark copper-orange colour. Quite spicy. A little sweetness initially but develops a herbal bitter tang - hints of angostura - later. Some toffee / caramel and hints of stewed plums on the palate. Dryish, fairly firm mouthfeel, which is not always the case with Abbey Dubbels.

Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, some floaties visible, gushing, but very stable creamy off-white head; fruity and sourish cellary nose, backed by some sweet malt; moderate sourish-sweetish flavour, medium bodied, creamy MF; sourish-malty finish with an increasing bitterness towards the end. Pleasant..........
