3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 slimchill (936) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 30, 2007
Bottle. Very acidic nose, light cherry. Cloudy light brown with minimal head. Flavor is nothing like the nose. Only a touch of acidity, more sweetness, can‘t nail down the fruit. Palate is full bodied but very smooth.

33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu. Rated on 07.08.2010
Somewhat sour aroma has caramel and candi sugar. Flavour has some earthy sourness, nuts, malt and hints of chocolate. A good dubbel, but I like the other ’t IJ products more. Somehow the sourness does not fit here perfectly.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 madsberg (7299) - Søborg, DENMARK - OCT 28, 2003
Bottled: Clear dark amber coloured. Huge light beige head. Malt, spices, citrus in the aroma. Caramel, spices and malt in the flavour, that has some fruity accents as well. Last medium long on the palate
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (6426) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 11, 2006
Chestnut coloured beer, end of bottle pretty ’unclear’. Good, creamy, whipped cream-like head, yellowish. Sourish nose, with some nice fruity acids, but also a bit lactic, on a malty background. Light citrus in the taste, but also a touch on the edge of infected. Malty, still sweet underbuild, fruity flavours of fresh figs. Caramel and some higher alcohols. Medium bodied, ends significantly lighter. Rather typical for ’t IJ. I call this "infected", but this kind of "infection" I’ll tolerate anytime.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - JUL 26, 2005
Bottle: Lovely ruby dark amber colour, with a lasting beige head. Fruity aroma, with some plum and citrus notes. Spice there too. Flavour starts a little sweet, but remains quite dry all the way through. Mildly spicy notes evident, along with some caramel and dark fruit notes. Alcohol well disguised. Not bad.

Shared by Retro42. A sweet beer. Light yeast, and sweet Belgian malt and Belgian yeast. They nailed the style on this one, but I usually expect IJ to do something a little different. This is an ordinary dubbel of high quality.
