After the ‘Zatte’, this is the oldest beer from Brouwerij ‘t IJ. Natte is classed as a ‘dubbel’, a Belgian category of smooth, dark beers. Because we partly use dark malt, Natte has a reddish-brown colour and a smooth, roasted flavour with earthy tones of brown sugar, nuts and plums. Completed with slightly bitter hops, this is a nicely balanced beer and one of the brewery’s classics.

Pours a cloudy brown with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Slightly sweet aroma of spices. Flavor of lights spices and malts, and brown sugar. A little more sweet and lighter than most dubbels that I’ve had, but pretty good nonetheless.

Lightly opaque red brown beer with warm highlights. Nice column bubbling. White head. Smell is sour bitter. Caramel and sourwood with vinegar and liquorice. Hints of wood, milk chocolate and cheese. Maybe some mustard. Interesting. Taste is sour sweet with a dry bitter finish. Quite refreshing. The sourness is more vinegar than citrus and balances well against the sweetness. Background of liquorice and sourwood. Medium body with a crisp fizziness.

Bottle from de Mitra. The beer is dark amber colored and pours a stable broken white head. The aroma is sweet with tones of raisins, brown sugar and further a nice hint of pepper and nuts. The taste is dry with nice bitter hops, and a little melon in the background is noticable. The finish is short and dry. Pretty good dubbel, but a little to bitter for a dubbel.

Tap. Pours amber with a small beige head. Very sweet malty aroma with some caramel and bread. Taste is sweet, malty, bready and has some caramel notes. Palate is tasteful and full. Overall a really nice choice of a dubbel.

Clear red brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: something off, weird, yeast, banana, chemical. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, unpleasant, very dirty, drain pour!

0,33l Flasche. Braunes Bier mit kleiner beiger Schaumkrone. Riecht nach Röstmalzen und Schokolade. Schmeckt malzig, ein wenig nach trockenen Früchten. OK!

Bottle on the street @ Kingsday, Amsterdam. Well, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Not big on doubles, bit syrupy, malty. People like it.

Bruinige kleur. Geur zoet met wat tonen van banaan. Smaak is zoet en fris. Afdronk is licht en snel weg
