Our bokbier for Easter; not too sweet, thereby producing a fine flavour. The flavour and aromas give a nicely balanced mix of fruit, coriander, yeast and hops. An enjoyable combination in which the bitter element gets an additional boost from the lightly roasted malt. The aftertaste is slightly sparkling, with a long-lasting, fresh, sweet flavour. An excellent beer for celebrating the arrival of spring!

Opaque copper orange beer with a generous head and little carbonation. Peaches, mandarin , breadiness on the nose, with some bitter alcoholic woodiness which I’ve come to associate with biological beer. ’t Ij pulls it off nicely thou. Good balance of bitter and watery, refreshing. Full-bodied and nicely fizzy with hints of honey, caramel and some alcohol. Quite a nice beer.

Mooie oranje kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt fruitig, hop en iets zoet. Smaakt iets bitter verder vind ik hem wat aan de zoete kant.

Pours a golden orange, a little unclear, with a full, offwhite head. Sweet aroma of honey, apple and bread. Nice taste with a little toffee, some sweetness and a good bitter. Easily drinkable. I like this.

(Draught at ’t IJ, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2014) Hazy golden amber colour with dense, off-white head. Malty, fruity, spicy nose with notes of dried fruit, citrus, orange peel and spicy hops. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, orange peel, apricots, a touch of clove, toast and a certain spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Spicy and tasty. Quite nice.

At the brewery: Pours a murky golden/brown with an off-white head. Aroma is hoppy in the sense that hops are plant matter and this smells like plant matter. Also, there is some booze in there as it warms up, which was strange considering the relatively low alcohol. Taste is floral hops. There are somewhat darkish malts. Moderate aftertaste. Medium body.

Slightly hazy amber with medium white head. Yeasty, light roasted malts, coriander, hint of cloves. Strong vegetal notes of green beans and unripe fruit. Bittersweet with medium body and slightly watery feel. Nice stuff.

Bottle, month past best before date. Pours murky amber, foaming off white head. Fruity, spicy, warming alcoholic aroma. Fairly sweet taste, raisins, pineapple, honey, herbs, with a nice bitter. Perhaps not special, but a tasty, well balanced beer.

Bottle from the Bierkoning, released at the same time as the first flowers in Hilversum. Dark hazy gold - amber pour with thick creamy, just ever so yellowish white head. Aroma is spicy, quite yeasty, dried grass clippings, fruity notes, perfumy floral alcohol notes as well. Taste is malty, quite spicy, yeasty with a fair amount of alcohol flavors poking through as well. Palate is full bodied, a bit sweet with good carbonation. Heavy belgian ale.
