Plzeň goes to show that a beer doesnít need a lot of alcohol to be special. With its fine, hoppy flavour, this 5% blond beer can certainly hold its own against the stronger beers. Brewed only from pale barley malt, this is a floral beer with delightful, hoppy aromas of hay and fresh grass. Deliciously dry, with a long-lasting aftertaste. We named the beer after the Czech town of Plzeň, from which Pilsner beers originate. Despite that, our Plzeň is not a Pilsner; it is a refreshing, bitter, top-fermented beer.

This is a very nice but terribly overpriced pils. My sample was a drunk a year after its expiration date. It showed gorgeous head and lacing over a cloudy pale gold body. The aroma was exactly like Warsteiner/Bitburger--good light mix of hops and malt. Malt character was friendly, some citric and sour qualities, finishing long with the sort of dull bitterness found in some of the trappist ales (versus the sharp pils bitterness of Jever). Excellent pils--sort of a mix of a Belgian Ale (given the hop character) and Rhineland Pils.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2012 Cloudy golden colored, thick lasting white head, beautiful. Very flowery nose, hops, hint of honey even. Smooth hopbitter finish, flowery again. Lasting bitter finish. Absolutely phenomenal pilsener, perhaps even the best i know.

A flowery, Belgian-style witbier with lots of spicy kick. Not really a pilsener in the traditional sense, so donít buy this expecting Pilsner Urquell. I see this brew as more of a watered-down tripel in taste (and I donít mean that as a bad thing). Heavily carbed.

Bottle conditioned. Gold, with an excellent fluffy white head with lots of lace and good condition. Fruity aromas simmilar to a wit but without the spiciness, hints of hoppiness. Honeyed hop flavours, refreshingly tart and bready. Good balance of fruitiness and hop bitterness in the finish. Adding the yeast midway through changes it from a ale-like pils to a triple lite.

Bottled. Golden colour, very hazy. Lively with creamy head. Lightly flowery, citrusy aroma. Dry and rather light bodied, with some yeasty witbier character and an aromatic finish with moderate bitterness.

Hoppy aroma and flavor. Citrus. Pretty dark and cloudy for a pilsener. Just a bit thin, but with a long hopbitter finish. The definite Czech-type pilsener, brewed in Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

When this is a Pilsener, it must be absolutely one of the best pilseners.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2007 Taste has been explicitly described by the others. That this beer is actually a pilsener, i couldnít imagine. Full of taste, delicious aroma. If this is truly a pilsener, it is a HELL of a pilsener!

Hoppy perfume aroma. Hazy, golden colour, good lace. Very hoppy and dry, light sweet, full. Long lasting finish. Probably the best pilsener I ever had.

Cloudy light peach/yellow with a thick 1/2í creamy, pocky, tight white head. Massive carbonation. Quite a strange aroma. Horses ass, wool, sweet/tart candy and some citrus. Bubbly body, but not spritzy. Tastes like what the inside of a horse stable smells like, but I like it. Very tart, dry, herby and quenching. Lemony and spicy bitter hops. The aroma and taste will definately offend some, but I found it funky and incredibly drinkable. One question? How do they get that aroma and flavor in there, never mind Iíd rather not know.
