COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Plzeň goes to show that a beer doesn’t need a lot of alcohol to be special. With its fine, hoppy flavour, this 5% blond beer can certainly hold its own against the stronger beers. Brewed only from pale barley malt, this is a floral beer with delightful, hoppy aromas of hay and fresh grass. Deliciously dry, with a long-lasting aftertaste. We named the beer after the Czech town of Plzeň, from which Pilsner beers originate. Despite that, our Plzeň is not a Pilsner; it is a refreshing, bitter, top-fermented beer.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2007 Taste has been explicitly described by the others. That this beer is actually a pilsener, i couldn’t imagine. Full of taste, delicious aroma. If this is truly a pilsener, it is a HELL of a pilsener!

Hoppy perfume aroma. Hazy, golden colour, good lace. Very hoppy and dry, light sweet, full. Long lasting finish. Probably the best pilsener I ever had.

Cloudy light peach/yellow with a thick 1/2’ creamy, pocky, tight white head. Massive carbonation. Quite a strange aroma. Horses ass, wool, sweet/tart candy and some citrus. Bubbly body, but not spritzy. Tastes like what the inside of a horse stable smells like, but I like it. Very tart, dry, herby and quenching. Lemony and spicy bitter hops. The aroma and taste will definately offend some, but I found it funky and incredibly drinkable. One question? How do they get that aroma and flavor in there, never mind I’d rather not know.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2006 Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately yeasty (horseblanket), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly malty (toasted grain), with a fairly strong note of band-aid, lesser note of lemon zest. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Strange for a "pilsner", no doubt, as it’s clearly a Brett-fermented brew and as a result very horsey and phenolic (you will be reminded of Orval). I wish the other components could keep up, which keeps it from being a hit (and yeah, it’s not close to style, but it is quite interesting).

Very good. Lots of hoppy dryness, and a citrus accent.
