Formerly called ít IJ Scharrel IJwit A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously Ďmoreishí. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name. The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

A hazy golden beer with a bubbly white head. Nose is quite spicy as expected. Taste is clove, citrus, mostly spicy. Decent but not outstanding witbier.

Tasty beer, especially for the style. Yeasty body of barley and wheat, combined with a spicy and fruity flavor. Good.

Heldere citroengele kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt fruitig, zoetig, mout. Smaakt, fruitig, hop. Iets bitter.

On tap @ ít IJ. Slightly hazy/cloudy bright golden with a small persistent white head and little lacing. Taste is dominated by coriander, but itís not disturbing (often, I donít like when the coriander take too much place is a Wit). Thereís also lemony notes, fresh cereals, banana and minty notes. Taste is also of coriander, but thereís more lemon and citrus zest than in the aroma. Banana is present there too, with cereals and banana notes. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Smooth finish. Well constructed Witbier with enough cereals presence to balance the coriander. The nice subtle lemon/orange zest touch help the drinkability.

Pour golden and hazy in a tulip glass, small head that persists quite well. Aromas of coriander, yeast, spices, banana. Tastes like orange zest, bit sweet, little bitterness. Palata is really smooth with sweet, fresh and malty aftertaste. One of the best witbiers Iíve drunk.

Bottle 33cl. Cloudy yellow buttery color, good creamy white head, mostly diminishing, thin layer remains; aroma of wheat, coriander, some banana, floral hops; smooth light sweet and slightly sour taste; medium body, oily texture, good carbonation; in the finish some lingering bitter notes are added to the sweetsour taste. Not a real witbeer but somewhere in between that and a weizen but a nice beer anyway.

Clear golden with small white head. Quite fruity, (peachy and lemon) fresh dough, medium sweet with slight spicy bitterness in the finish. Quite creamy feel with full carbonation.
