Formerly called ’t IJ Scharrel IJwit A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously ‘moreish’. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name. The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

330 ml bottle
Clear straw yellow beer with white head. Murky with sediment. Aroma has coriander, pineapple, vanilla and Belgian yeast. Flavor has yeast and coriander. Palate is medium full with quite heavy carbonation. Finish has quite mild bitterness. Aftertaste has coriander, citrus, fruits and yeast. A witbier on the heavier side. I would like it to be more refreshing, even if it meant less body. Still pretty good.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts strong, malty, light sourish notes of lemon, modest salty. Finish a bit alcoholic. Okay.

Strabuona!

Cloudy golden color with short white head, aromas of citrus and spices, slightly sweet but with still a bit of bitterness, which gives it a good balance and make this one different from traditional witbieren. Not bad, not bad.

On tap at the taphouse. Yellow color, clear, white head. Spicy aromas, lemon, coriander,. yeast. Taste is semi-sweet, a little weak compared to the nose. Again some spices, some lemon and coriander, yeasty notes. Sticky aftertaste, sweet. Medium body with medium carbonation. A nice wit.
