COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A prize-winning beer that we brew specially for De Bierkoning. The fruity, bitter hops and lightly roasted malt complement each other perfectly in this light brown beer. These flavours are accentuated with a little coriander to produce a full aroma of flowers, citrus and a hint of caramel. An irresistible beer that was crowned in the Brussels Beer Challenge with a silver medal in the Herb & Spice category.

Vlo stands for Vodden, Lompen en Ongeregeld (translates a bit as rags, bags and bums).

A hazy golden ale with a thick onctuous off white head, lacing and beautiful. A very herbal hops aroma, catnip, some Brett, and lemon notes. In mouth, another fine Orval style ale, with bready malt, light Brett notes, coriander, orange peels, herbal bitterness, very sustained. Bottle bought in Amsterdam, Nov. 2006, so 2.5 years old. Still a treat!!!

33cl bottle at the brewery tap-room on 09-Apr-2016, poured into a long stemmed tulip glass. Clear dark amber colour with a small white head which disipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast and sweet malt. Light bittersweet flavours of spices, malt and fruit. Feeling more of a Belgian style pale ale than a Belgian Strong ale, but great anyway. This one’s a winner.

Floral!!! Ja das kommt mir beim Genuss dieses wundervollen Bieres zuerst in den Sinn. Für ein BSA extrem hoppy & samtig. Klasse. Kleine Flasche im Cafe De Koffer zu Groningen. Ca. 4 Euro

0.33 l bottle from ’Sterk Avondverkoop’, best before February 2016. Clear, orangeish amber with a huge, dense, almost stable, tan head. Sweetish, fruity-spicy aroma of coriander and peach with hints of honey and vanilla. Sweetish, fruity-spicy taste of peach and coriander with hints of honey, caramel and vanilla, followed by a crisp, medium bitter finish with hints of licorice. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very nice! But you really need to like coriander and peach, otherwise you’ll hate this beer.

On tap at Arendsnest. Light brown color, little bit of dark fruit flavor to it, but subdued. I can get both the flowers and the caramel...doesn’t sound like it’d be good but it works. One of the better beers on my trip for sure.

Bottle at De La Gare. Pours very hazy orange with a big cream head. Aroma of salt and vinegar crisps, doughy malt and light fruity hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a touch of acidity that of course shouldn’t be there. Medium bodied with light carbonation.
