COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dubbed a barleywine style by the brewery, but with added complexity and a strong Belgian twist. A powerful, dark beer.

33 cl bottle. Plummy thick molasses, enormous fluffy head with thick gouts of lacing. Big yeasty nose, plum pudding and chocolaty caramel, and fine honey...breathtaking. On the tongue, very sweet at first but with a fairly big peppery alcohol bite that keeps the finish fairly dry and long, long-lasting. Baked fruits, hints of coffee and bitter chocolate, and banana intertwine with the dominant plummy/molasses character to form a beautifully intense, well-balanced fancy. Perhaps just a touch too bitter to finish, but an excellent example all in all.

33 cl bottle, bought in Amsterdam. Brown ale with lost of carbonation, large head. Full, I’d say agressive taste, with a sourness kicking you in the teeth before the full malty taste is allowed in the door. This is certanly not for casual drinker, a beer with hair on its chest. Full malt, including some prunes and dates, lots of spice - cinnamon and pepper. I bought three t Ij bottles, the first two were off, but this one was great!

Bright medium amber caramel with slim gray rim. Big funky cherry on the nose--lots of soft sweet sour notes dancing around alongside that. Rich medium body with lively carb. Gorgeous cherry, red wine vinegar, and tangy citrus mid-palate. Mild, lightly minerally finish.

Bottled(330ml). -Hazy brown caramel coloured, medium sized persistent beige head, acidic fruity (cherry) nose. The aroma is malty, slight yeasty, nice hoppy and caramelish with notes of spices, cherries and coriander. Alcohol is well balanced. Dry sweet finish. So far the best of seven ’tIJ beers I’ve tried.

Bottled. Hazy brown, beige head. Sourish chocolate-aroma. Full chocolate-flavour with a warm alco-feel.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 2 Feb 2006) Dark ruby colour with frothy off-white head, some lacing. Fruity nose with notes of dark fruit and black-currant. Malty, fruity taste with dark fruit, black-currant, dried figs, raisins and chocolate with a spicy, chocolatey, slightly bitter finish. Drier than expected. Very nice!

(Rating #3043)

This bottled brew marked best before 9/05 poured a extremely large sized head of foamy light brown colored long lasting finely sized bubbles that left behind a hazy dark brown colored nearly opaque body with no visible carbonation. The aroma was bready with brown malty notes. The mouth feel was tingly and mildly vinous with a mellowing in the finish. It had a mild malty burnt malt bready flavor. After drinking the concoction I found lots of thick stuff in the bottom of my mug.
