COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dubbed a barleywine style by the brewery, but with added complexity and a strong Belgian twist. A powerful, dark beer.

30cl bottle. My favourite from ’t Ij. Not much aroma. Decent head. Hazy amber colour

opaque red-brown, like rodenbach g. c. prickly, yeasty texture combined with quite rich chocolate and cherry flavours. curious dried banana aftertaste.

Hot alcoholic aroma. Dark sweet fruity flavor (raisins mostly). A little disjointed, with a slightly musty flavor as the beer progresses.

Dark ruby- brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma is fruity with yeast and an odd (prune?) scent. Flavor starts with red grape, prune, black cherry followed by some peppery spicyness and a tongue tingling, lightly dry and tart finish. 9% ABV not apparent.

This beer is a dark reddish-brown color with a thick long-lasting head, great-looking yeast sea monkeys and moderate lacing. The palate is nice—moderately thick with velvety carbonation. The aromas are a trip: pipe tobacco, raisins and dates, cellar, alcohol and damp garden soil. Very earthy and warming. The flavor is mildly bitter-sweet with an average-length finish. Yes, please! Pretty darn drinkable for 9%!

Bottle. Dark brown, average and mostly lasting light brown head. Medium, malty and sweetish aroma, very fruity with some hoppyness and sourness, light spiciness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, fruity with some spiciness and light alcohol. Finish is average, malty with some fruity sweetness, light alcohol and spiciness - licorice. Nice hoppy and fruity aroma, but flavor is not in balance with aroma.

33cl. bottle dated 9/05. Pours a hazy light brown color with a large beige head. Really nice malty aroma with lots of brown sugar, caramel and dried fruits. Flavor was a bit of a disappointment after the aroma, but by no means was it not good. Bready, sweet flavor with some caramel and dark fruits. Aggressive carbonation on one hands keeps the beer from being cloying, but also makes it feel a bit thin. Overall a very good beer.

Murky reddish brown brew.Nose is complex, toffee candy bar and a plum fruit note also.Flavor at first turned me off until I let this sit for awhile a warm up.The sweetness of the toffee and fruit came in big once this warmed a little.Still a little sour on the palate.
