Lubiere (3324), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2008 Hazy brown ale with a thick off white head, lacing. A sweet caramel aroma with light brett notes. In mouth, a wild beer with dry crisp malt, light licorice, brett, earthy. Rich and comlex. A very surprising beer. Bottle at Gollem, Nov. 2006, 3.50 Euro.
heemer77 (3789), Savannah, Missouri, USA Sep 18, 2008 Deep garnet body with a strang epeach colored head. The aroma was rich freshly poished shoe leather and peaches. There was also some earthy musk. The taste was rich with caramel and some old canned pears. There was also a nice spicy cinnamon note in the finish. A clean and delicate beer for the big abv. Well done. spkevin (22), Doetinchem, Netherlands Sep 5, 2008 bottle @ café ’t Moortgat, Arnhem. pours a hazy brown colour with a light brown head. powerfull beer. taste is stong and has a nice mouthfeel. sweet with a nice aftertaste. enjoyed this one. FatPhil (2367), Espoo, Finland Aug 28, 2008 330ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam)
Lively as I pour it, a huge tight creamy, self-supporting and persistent off-white head. I’ll need a spoon to get through to the beer! Mahogany in colour, slightly hazy. Dry, slightly yeasty, bitter aromas are all I get from the head. I’ll wait another 5 minutes and see if something else vaporous collects in the glass... One Python episode later - it’s fruity and spicy. Soft palate. Quite tart, and very fruity taste - peaches and melons, with cinnamon and perhaps some nutmeg. Sweet sour tinge is interesting. Quite light, doesn’t feel 9%. Simple tangy, heading towards vegetal, but sweet, heading towards plasticky, malty finish, that segues to more traditional medium-roasted malts, which hadn’t previously shown themselves. Soft.
