DSG (460), Yuvalim, Israel Apr 1, 2008 (3/16/08) Bottle at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Hazy red with a big, slowly-diminishing, off-white head. Aroma of some malt, wood and fruits – quite nice. Sweetish flavor with some malt, a bit of caramel, some oaky sour notes and some nice fruitiness. Medium-bodied. Very pleasant.

Smell is of IJ yeast, brown sugar, dark fruits and alcohol. Taste is brown sugar, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, dark fruits, finish is a bit sour and dry. On tap @ IJ brouwerij: Mouthfeel is much softer and more creamy, taste is sweeter. Prefer the tap for this one. Minimal head thereafter. Shortbread and dark dried fruit compote. Ultra ballance and a luxurant mouthfeal that has a refreshing twinge of sour at the finish. Earthy, spicy caramelly, and fruity aroma, with notes of red berries. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Well balanced, dry finish. gmonroe10 (100), Netherlands Jul 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy caramel with a full beautiful tan head. Nose is grassy and flowery hops with underlying sweetness. Flavor is complex and very nice. Starts with flowery hops, then to sweet dark fruits, then to a looonnngg lingering slightly bitter yeast finish. Very nice, smooth and enjoyable.
