COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A barley wine brewed in the English style. Struis is a full-bodied beer with a deep, dark colour and a soft, long-lasting head. The aroma is dark and sweet, with clear tones of chocolate and dried fruit. The aftertaste is dry and long-lasting, and leaves you yearning for more. A delicious accompaniment to food and ideal with skeapsrond cheese. Struis is only available as a bottled beer.

The beer pours a hazy dark amber color with a khaki head. Sweet dark fruit and brown sugar on the nose. A mild toasted quality, some yeast, and a bit of molasses. The flavor is also rather heavy on the sugar and dark fruit characteristics. Some molasses, toffee, and toast. Maybe a hint of spices, some yeast, and that’s about it. Just quite sweet and not terribly complex or interesting.

Donker bruin/rood schuimkraag verdwijnt langzaam. Sterke hazelnoot en alcohol geur. Hele fijne koolzuur. Vrij zoete smaak, doet me denken aan sterke deutsche-bock bier, misschien door de gist, Lekker biertje.

Bottle at Huppel. Pours hazy amber with a thick off white head. Aroma of wet dog, caramel, vegetable, malt and dried fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter and sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. I can only believe the overall rating of this is historical, really not a great beer.

Cloudy brown beer, decent cream coloured head. Sweet water chesnuts nose with a trace of fruit. Crisp palate turning softer. Taste follows the nose - sweet water chesnuts and a little fruit salad sweets. Minerals. Carbonated bit in the finish.
