Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Surprisingly not that impressed. It’s a nice beer, but not very interesting or rich. Expected more. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Oct 6, 2005 Updated: Oct 7, 2005Really I thought this was a dubbel. Anyway, dark reddish brown pour, almost no head. Aroma is candy sugar, yeast, and darker fruits like raisins. Caramel comes through in the flavor as well to deliver an enjoyable session. Very nice. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 5, 2005 An easy creamy drink. One that says calories more than taste. Nicely hopped, refreshing with lunch. Cinammon and other spices invigorate the mouth. Lots of malt, a bit of hops, fruity mostly cherry, yeast, barley fluids (364), USA Sep 24, 2005 Large white head that lasts. Non-moving sediment in a dark copper color brew. Fragrance is caramel with grapes. Starts very unassuming and a little sweet then opens up into a malty caramel. Slight bitter finish. Very very different from Zatte other offerings. This brewer has excellent examples of very different beers. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Aug 15, 2005 Interesting brew... which means I’m not sure yet if I like it. It pours a murky orange-brown color, moderately carbonated, with a film for a head. It smells pretty much like an overly ripe tangerine, but for some strange reason, that’s not unpleasant today. The brew is thick to drink, malty and sweet, still filled with ripe, juicy citric flavors. Not a bad drink. I’m not sure yet if I like it.

Reddish brown, hazy with a huge sediment and a small off-white head. Lots of carbonation though. Malty and bitter with no particular flavour really sticking out. Perhaps a bit of candy sugar, but nothing much. Far from the best ’t Ij beer. 080105 bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jul 19, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a carbonated caramel-colored body with a thin white head. Aroma of alcohol, caramel, citrus, and spices. Malty backbone with flavors of fruit and caramel. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany Jul 11, 2005 Bottled. Cloudy amber colour. Big frothy off-white head. Smells malty, caramelly with fruity and spicy, peppery notes. Huge malt flavour combined with fruitiness and alcohol. Finishes a tad roastmalty, sweet and with a licorice flavour. Good, but not excellent. Many thanks to bierkoning for this.
