Hazy opaque reddish brown colour, big beige foamy head, good lace. Aroma is yeast, some fruits, bready malts as well as some sweet malts and spices. Flavour is mild roast, raisins, leathery notes, yeast, spices, herbs and also quite much fruits and licorice. Hides the alcohol very well. Nice yeasty and licoriceish aftertaste. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 I really love this one. I don’t agree that this is the same as Turbock because I’ve had both side by side and I love the Ij Ijnde Jaars, but I regress. Bottle. Pours a murky brown with a big head. Aroma is a beautiful belgian yeast, spiciness, and some etoh. Flavor is loaded with spices which dominate this beer all over, I don’t know what it is that makes this one stand out to me but the balance is just right. hopdog (5526), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2008 33cl bottle (Jaars label). Poured a dark amber / brownish color wtih an averaged sized off white head. Lots of floaters. Aromas of yeast, stale bread, caramel, and some dark fruits. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, some chocolate, and yeast. Alcohol content well hidden. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 28, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café,Stockholm. Hazy dark amber, dense head. Yeasty nose with a lemony tang - typical ’t IJ style. Floral and grassy with a body that is slimmer than expected. Fruity and vinous with some caramelly malt and striking resiny bitterness. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Apr 26, 2008 Ruddy dark copper at teh edges with a deeper reddish brown in the middle. The head is yellowish khaki and is long lasting. The aroma is rich caramel and cherries with some cinnamon rasin bread. The taste has some notes of toffee and black tea. There is also some woody resin. Thick and sticky in the mouthfeel, this is a sipper. Nicely made. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 22, 2008 Pours a dirty caramel color with billowy rocky head, bits of yeast on the head as well. Looks like dark tea after adding lemon. Yeasty sweet, caramel, some tart spicy alcohol, some raisin. Spicy alcohol up front, peppery, sharp bubbles, slight sweetness on the middle with sharp bitterness on sides and back of the tongue. some metal on the finish with some astringency and bandaid. Some vegetal notes on the finish. Fruityness opens as it warms. Pretty complex but a little hot and unbalanced I feel.
