Rich orangy brown, massive tight head. Big fruity and spicy aroma - clove and dark fruits - some malt too. Big malty sweet taste - some sour tinge too. Warming alcohol and fruity - solid malty brew. Beautiful clear amber - lots of microscobic floaters around in the liquid. Wonderful creamy yellow-beige head. Okay lacing. Aroma is sweet, lightly funky and a wonderful deep fruitiness. Lots of prunes especially. Rather lively mouthfeel but still very full. Flavour is slightly metallic, otherwise wonderful again. Nice warming viniousness amidst oranges, prunes, burnt malts. This is truly a nice beer. M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Feb 10, 2008 Tap at the brewery. Cloudy mid chestnut, thin off-white head. Nose is wheaty with some lively lemon and wintery fruit. Mouth is slightly metallic wheaty, warm and fruity. Slight spirit burn, fruity and watery end. Svesse (2601), Hässelby, Sweden Jan 30, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Ruby red colour with frothy beige head. Fruity, spicy, slightly yeasty nose with notes of dried fruit, dark berries and spicy hops. Fruity taste with lots of dark berries, fiery alcohol sweetness and a generous dose of spicy hops in the finish. Medium to full body. Warming and very tasty beer. Nice stuff! thebeertourist (2753), Oslo, Norway Jan 8, 2008 Bottle. Bronze-coloured with orange notes and a tan head. Some sediment. Sharp Brettanomyces aroma blending with herbal hops. Reminds me of their Orvalesque Columbus. Flavour attack: Sweet caramel fights with Brettanomyces, but loses towards the finish. Very good, but I think I prefer the Columbus. TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Jan 7, 2008 bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head and a muddy, earthy and smokey aroma. The flavor is dominated by smoked malts, but has hints of ripe red fruits, brown sugar, caramel, espresso and red wine vinegar too. The finish is long and mostly bitter and smokey. A very nice bock KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 29, 2007 [2004 vintage] Pours hazy red with medium off white head. Yeasty aroma. Yeasty and fruity taste. Hides alcohol well.
