Brewed at the ’t IJ Brewery for the Bierkoning bottleshop. A properly hopped beer with coriander and the staff’s choice at the brewery. Vlo stands for Vodden, Lompen en Ongeregeld (translates a bit as rags, bags and bums).

Bottle. Thanks to MadsNp. Pours hazy orange with a small creamy head and lacings. Nose is yeast, pepper and brett. Medium and smooth body. Taste is very dusty and yeasty with some bretty notes. Infected, perhaps not meant to be?!? Ends dry.

Bottle, best by Feb 8, 2010: Pours a cloudy bronze amber with a large, pillowy froth of khaki head. Complex aroma of sweet biscuity malts, some fruity esters and leathery funk. Starts with good fullness and a fairly rich dark caramel maltiness with some bitter earthy and citrusy hop notes. Finishes very dry and crisp, with some lingering funk. A very nicely balanced and enjoyable brett brew.

30th September 2008. Cloudy brown beer. Extraodinary tasting beer. Very strong sourish ginger and caraway but there is no burn from the ginger (if that’s what it is made with). Dry finish with quite a bit of hops. An eye opener the flavour of this one but not in a good way!

Ambercoloured, hazy beer, very dense off-white head. Fresh and fruity in the nose, grainy, a bit grassy and hints of pear. Taste is bitter, hoppy, yeasty. Full body and a bitter finish. Nice!

33 cl. bottle. BBE: 10/2009. Just on month over date, but as it’s unpasteurized I hop it’s still OK. Bottle almost explodes with foam and beer after popping the lid. Almost killed my keyboard. Pours amber yellow with an enormous foamy head that dissipates with quite some lacing. Aroma is a bit sharp but not unpleasant. Light malts, banana, pineapple, hops. Taste is sweet at first but then turns quite bitter with orange/citrus peel, some earth and hops present. Long bitter finish. Outspoken beer, quite enjoyable.

0,33 l bought in Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam.
Poured hazy dark amber with a superb foamy and creamy off-white head what diminishes to a delicious lacing one. Fine earthy aroma with coriander and malt. Complex flavor with interesting earthy aromas of yeast and malt, some caramel and spicies like coriander and clove. Exciting beer.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a big frothy off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma, spices and malt. Strong malty taste, starts sweet, turns bitter and ends with a harsh bite of yeasts.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy, reddish-amber hue. A smooth, foamy, beige colored head crowns the surface. Solid sheets of microfilm lacing show good coverage on the glass. The aroma starts out with a base of sweet, toasty biscuit malt, followed by a layer of dank, grassy hoppiness. Flavors show a bit more hop depth, most notably through hints of orange peel that join the catty, dank grass. Toasted biscuit malt again lends balancing sweetness. This one was lacking in that signature ’t IJ yeast funk that I’ve become accustomed to in their beers. The palate sports a medium body, smooth, yet somewhat sticky on the finish. Solid brew.
