Apparently this is that OG ’t IJ tick yo. Pours hazy yellow gold with a small but creamy head. Notes are Belgian esters and spice, malt, pepper, grass, kiwi, and yeast. Medium bodied but the alcohol is well hidden at 8 percent.

0.33 l bottle at De Balie, Amsterdam. Hazy, golden yellow with a creamy, white head. Fruity-yeasty aroma of grains, vanilla and honey. Sweetish, fruity-spicy taste of citrus, vanilla, honey and clove. Short, slightly sourish, light bitter and yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deze tripel heeft niet veel aroma. De smaak kenmerkt graan, een beetje hop en koriander. Droog. Weinig schuim. Geen heel bijzonder bier.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home, from the regular supermarket.
It pours a cloudy golden beer with a creamy white head, fine carbonation.
The dominant smell for me is of sweet malt, some floral esters ( is that banana I get there...?), young strawberry, white pepper, touch of honey and some bitter hops.
In the taste I find the sweet malt also dominant, with the peppery warmth of the alcohol, touches of citrus fruit, with a medium dry, silty edged ending.
A nice tripel, definitively not one of the boring ones, although other beers from ’t IJ were able to raise more excitement in me. Anyway it’s a good tripel you’d like to drink again, well balanced. I for one will drink this again!

Malt, hop, yeast, clove, coriander, fruit.
Gold/yellow beer with a slight white head.
Weak beginning, gets more interesting and ends in a blend of everything mentioned in the aroma.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Poured a light golden yellow, definitely a tripel as advertised. Belgian spice and yeast prevails, definitely not as boozy as expected. Smooth.
