The first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the classic beer of Brouwerij ‘t IJ. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger, blonde beers in Belgian tradition. Zatte more than lives up to expectations in this respect. It is a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious beer that can be enjoyed in all seasons.

Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of yeast, ripe fruits and earthy notes. Taste is sweetish, yeasty and ripe fruity with some stuffy notes and apricot. Finish is sweetish, yeasty and ripe fruity. Okay tripel.

04-12-2015 - Others like it better, I found it had a taste that didn’t go well.

On bottle in Amsterdam. Hazy golden orange color, ok foam. Medium/ Hugh aroma intensity ; fruity, light citrus and honey- ok yeast influence. Medium/ full body & complexity . Some sweetness , but balances well. Enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml. bottle drank @ De Gollem. Hazy dark sparkling orange with a big white head & nice lacing. Totally murky brown once I added the yeast. Nose is some sweetish grapefruit with a big quite BE ester profile, grain alcohol pear. Taste is weird grainy very sweet esters, alcoholic pear, grain genever, alcohol, huge esters, huge floral bitter esters, alcoholic ester pear,… Boozy & effervescent body. Harsh & too BE in all the wrong way, huge harsh unpleasant boozy esters, little else to say.

Bottle. Honey color, modest foam head. Aroma: Pilsener, lemon, hint of seaweed, hint of fresh grains. It starts to shine in the taste, which borders ipa sweetness without the exotic fruit. Leans more towards orange, orange zest, apple juice, white wine. Sour lacing, sweet aftertaste. Ok.

Pours a cloudy golden colour with no head. A banana bread and orange aroma. A strong wheat taste that quickly gives way to a bitter, strong alcohol taste.
