UPDATED: DEC 4, 2011 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy, slightly light amber with a lot of bubbles and a large snow-white head that lasts long and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fruity, phenolic, slightly spicy and yeasty, tones of banana. Semisweet taste is fruity, spicy and grainy. Aftertaste is sour and semi-dry wheat and spicy, tones of apple. The aroma is rather one dimensional, but the aftertaste is excellent. Palate is medium and somewhat carbonated.
2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jimthechap (637) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 28, 2011
It’s a hazy golden yellow with a fluffy white head. It smells like a urinal... honestly. It has that disinfectant and stale urine smell. Exposure to air mellows this slightly, but now the thought is in my head. Ugh. The flavour is not your typical Tripel, but has mature notes of ground spices, grated grapefruit zest. There is a lingering finish that sits on the tongue rewarding the pushing through the toilet barrier. I’m still disappointed though.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TET (685) - FINLAND - SEP 10, 2011
Orange yellow beer with a huge and beige head. Aroma is strongly sour, green apples, yeast, fruitness; simple, but nice aroma. Taste is fruitfull, some spicyness, green apples and house-made sourness is balanced, but easily to notice. Medium palate, quite lot of carbonation, but still nice to drink. Again, unique beer from ’t IJ, if you like unique taste of brewer, then this beer will taste also. Medium spicy, sour tripel, easily to enjoy.
2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 worldbeertaste (400) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2011
Medium Orange in colour. Malt, grass, oats and wheat smell like cerial with some banana. Weizen feel- fizzy (like sparling water) with a light sour aftertaste. Citrus (lemon) ash. Sour taste becomes overpowering as I kept drinking. Its alright
