The first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the classic beer of Brouwerij t IJ. It is a tripel, the category reserved for the stronger, blonde beers in Belgian tradition. Zatte more than lives up to expectations in this respect. It is a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious beer that can be enjoyed in all seasons.

Tripel with a fruity and full body of yeast. The yeast itself is fruity as well. Has a candisugar sweetness, but also a slight dryness. Good.

Bottle at Chriso. Bit of a gusher. It pours golden with a small white head. The nose is doughy, sweet, green apple, pear drops, lemon sherbet and hay. The taste is crisp, doughy, sherbet, green apple, melon, pear, earth, hay, spice and warming alcohol with a dry, sweetish finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation.So-so.

On tap @ t IJ. Slightly hazy golden with a small ring of white foam and little lacing. Aroma is spicy (mostly cloves) with Belgian yeast, fruity notes, banana and cereals. Taste is slightly sweet and moderately spicy (again, mostly cloves) with breadied malt, fruits and grassy finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Fluffy mouthfeel with a spicy finish, a tad weird. Interesting take on a Tripel, but the cloves take a tad too much place and hinder the balance/drinkability. Its still tasty though.
