COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light copper golden with a frothy fizzy head. Aroma is lightly sweet with lots of strange fruitiness- peach, tropical notes light pineapple, yeasty doughy character and light bready pils malt and grass. Flavor is herbal and spicy with light grassy hints, tropical notes, more peach, and lemon citrus with doughy somewhat dirty yeasty notes. Finsih is a bit doughy as well, but it finishes a touch sweet. Still mostly easy to drink. Ok.

Another yellow and lightly hazy beer from ’t IJ... A step yeastier and breadier. An odd fruitiness--distinctive--finis with a distinctly caramelly note. Interesting and at least it is pleasant enough. (on tap at brewer)

Bottle (in NZ). Pours a hazy gold with a large foamy head. Citrus and passionfruit on the nose. A zesty mouthfeel, but slightly vegetal as well as more of those citrus flavours.

Bottled. Smells metallic, meaty (?). Hazy orange-honey, thick off-white head. Taste bitter, with a spikey finish of fruit and mustard. Weird.

Bottle courtesy of beerlando. Been in the fridge for quite some time. Darker golden, hazy, decent head. Aroma is dominated by alcohol and plastic phenols. Flavor much the same, with faint banana and bubblegum. Don’t think anything is off, just highly phenolic triple. Not my thing.

Fresh aroma’s but a strong presence of the alcohol. One of my favorites from ’t IJ, and quite nice in general, although not the most interesting tripel I have tasted.

Draught at Brouwerij ’t IJ. Hazy gold with an off white head. Spicy and citric with lemon and grassy hop notes then spicy finish on a smooth mouthfeel.

Golden with a small white head. Grainy aroma with yeasty and earthy notes. Sweet and fruity flavour with over-powering alcohol.
