COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the classic beer of Brouwerij ‘t IJ. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger, blonde beers in Belgian tradition. Zatte more than lives up to expectations in this respect. It is a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious beer that can be enjoyed in all seasons.

Unfiltered, golden. Nice dense froth, Nose: Citrus, yeast, coriander seed. Palate: litghlty sweet, some banana. Creamy round mouthfeel, nearly no bitterness. This is a fairly soft tripel, no alcoholic sharpness.

Aroma: yeast, grain and cereals, light caramel. Appearance: hazy, pale gold, medium, frothy, white head. Taste: light bitter and sweet. Plate: typical Tripel bitters coming up, yeast, dough, cereal malts remain in the background, lively carbonation. Overall: decent Tripel, yet does not quite make it to the top of this league. Bottle from Wittich Weine, Olten.

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Spicy and yeasty aroma, not unpleasant, but not your typical tripel. Dry flavour, okay but not very interesting, mild spicy notes, but again: not your typical tripel.

Pours a cloudy golden colour with no head. A banana bread and orange aroma. A strong wheat taste that quickly gives way to a bitter, strong alcohol taste.

Fra flaske på rbhd-samlinnga feb-15: klar lys gylden med hvitt skum. Aroma av grønne epler med en sidearoma av sure appelsiner. Litt blomster, gress og honning i smaken, som desverre ikke overbeviser.
