COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Thanks to Solan for suggesting this. Pours cloudy orange gold with lots of carbonation and a thick fluffy white head. Citrus, yeast, and sour aroma. Has a medium bodied, with a sour, orange citrus taste. Very smooth drinking despite the big carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter. An interesting blend of flavors, very good.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2006 Pours with a textbook sticky, creamy, and retentive foam. Medium body with a soft feel. Magnificent complex aroma full of iron, orange, some toastiness, pickle, hint of pepper, vanilla, sassafras, ginger, hint of phenol, and melon; really nice hints of both gueuze and witbier. Medicinal flavors dominate for a few seconds before an onslaught of leather and manure polish things. There is also an appealing tangerine-like tanginesss and iron-like acidity. Without doubt one of the more unique Belgian beers to be found. I am heading back for more.

bottle from 2006. Spicy musty aroma, yeasty with cinnamon and coriander with very sweet malts and a mild funk. Pours slightly hazy orange with a thick white head. Slightly tart upfront with a sweet bread-like malts flavor, very floral with hints of mint and herbs mild earthy funk with hints of candi sugar towards the end. Highly carbonated a crisp bright finish.

33cl bottle at Cafe Hoppe in Amsterdam. They called it their local beer. Pours a hazy, burnt gold with a frothy, foamy white head. Nose is wet and slightly stale Hallertau hops, sweet, grassy, candy sugar, some yeasty esters. Flavor is sweet, candy sugar, banana, cloves, yeast, light lemon cough drop. Full bodied finish with some light alcohol burn. I was pleasantly surprised.
