COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2004 Bottle conditioned, bbe 05/03. Gold, excellent long lasting rocky fluffy white head and good condition. Hoppy aromas giving way to perfumed maltiness, hints of menthol and a faint suggestion of rubber, Soft and delicate sweet malt in the mouth with a robust balancing hoppiness, some traces of fruity esters and a nice yeastiness. Finish is pleasantly alcoholic and slightly dry. Gets better with age and hides its strength well.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2004 APPEARANCE: Darker and more amber with smaller, yet thicker head. Head lasts longer than Westmalle. AROMA:Biscuit and pear are present with hints of dry grass FLAVOR/BODY: Soft and fluffy with hints of mandarine orange and bosc pear. Also some very sweet honeylike flavors. Spiciness is faint. Finish is dry, but not acidic or alcoholic, rather grassy. As it warms, thick noodle flavors come out, I’m guessing from the yeast. Less complex after only 10 minutes, but overall more tasty and complex than westmalle.

Had a draught Zatte which has a slightly tart sensation to it. It is very yeasty and has a clouded colour. It is fresh, a taste of bitter, and spicy. Very nice beer. I like the typical IJ glass, unlike any other beerglass.

11.2 oz bottle [best before 7/04]: hazy dark peach with a tight, creamy white head. . . great complex aroma with full yeast, iron, strongly alcoholic vanilla, soughdough, coriander, sweet/ripe bananas, finely cracked pepper and ainse. Full, sticky mouth feel with tangy, sweet orange flesh, fresh clove sticks, cinnamon, and all spice. Outrageously creamy finish with a nice bitterness and an interesting toasted funkiness. Very fun; very tasty.

Bottle, dated 2002. Pours a hazy orange amber with a volcanic white head that slowly settles into a thin creamy pad. Aromas of apples, cloudberries, and barnyard must. Sweet lively palate of apples, pears, chamomille, hay, and barnyard mustiness. A slightly medicinal finish. Very complex and surprisingly refreshing. I enjoyed this enormously.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2005 This has one of the most unique flavors I have had from a beer. Medium white head with sediment with opaque butterscotch color. Strong Bananas and caramel nose. Citrus spicey yet Malty cultured yeast that taste like meaty liver with onions in there at least that’s what I get out of the hops. Bitter finish. It smells one way and tastes entirely different very complex. Excellent beer.

Poured a small IPA-like head. Nice lacing. Spicy and fruity orange nose and tawny orange body. This was like a fruit cocktail or a tropical pop sickle. Incredible desert-worthy beer. Eggselent!
