Bottled. Pours a cloudy light amber color. Billowy white head with a frothy lacing. Yeasty aroma with notes of stone fruits. Malty and spicy with pears, raisins and cigar flavor notes. Hops lend a bit of an understated bitterness in the end. Finishes Dry.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cornfield (5239) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - FEB 2, 2007
This seems pretty lightweight for a tripel, but it is tasty. Hazy gold in color, it’s got a sustained white head that does only spotty lacing. The aroma is fruity, apples & pineapples & some citric tartness, with a slightly funky note. The latter builds somewhat in the flavor, but the fruit tastes remain strong and a soft soapy yeast is added. It finishes on a dry, mildly tart note. Pretty nice.

Hazy yellow, with the spicy phenolics of achouffe in aroma and taste. Sweet with lemony citrus into the finish. €2.8

Bottle. High white creamy and long lasting head. Hazy orange body. Spicy (coriander?) sweet and hoppy aroma. Pleasantly carbonated smooth and round, in spite of the high alcohol percentage, oranges and well a bit of alcohol. flavor. Fair amount of carbonattion and a long bitter aftertaste.

My second time around with the people from tIJ brewery. The first wasn’t the best of beers so I had hoped this was better, and it proved to be so. Aroma was fruit (apricots) and yeasty, but fairly one dimensional. A cloudy orange/yellow color. Flavors were apricots, bready yeast, some malt sweetness and a bit of citrus. I think I’d buy this again.

One of the best non-Belgian Belgian ales I’ve come across. Not my favourite style but a great beer. Huge flavour.

Looked just like one’d expect from a tripel: hazy murky golden orange with a good head which lasted nicely. The aroma was typical ’t IJ & sweet with strong earthy musky notes. Good full & rounded taste pretty sweet for a tripel even. Nice.
