COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Hazy orange with creamy white head. Lactose, mandarin, sweet bread dough and cloves. Tasty, moderately sweet body with a sour hint. Smooth, rich truly makes this beer. Nice lacing in the glass; everything set up for an enjoyable tasting experience. (33cl bottle)

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2011 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy, slightly light amber with a lot of bubbles and a large snow-white head that lasts long and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fruity, phenolic, slightly spicy and yeasty, tones of banana. Semisweet taste is fruity, spicy and grainy. Aftertaste is sour and semi-dry wheat and spicy, tones of apple. The aroma is rather one dimensional, but the aftertaste is excellent. Palate is medium and somewhat carbonated.

Belongs to one of the best dutch beers and it is perhaps even the pride of Amsterdam beer brewery. A wonderfull Abbey Tripel with a nice soft taste to it, even reminds a bit of German Hefeweizen with the eye on it’s texture and the slight flavor of banana. Nice and soft and a real treat!

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2006 Bottle. Egg white like head leaving thick, creamy laze on top of a hazy golden beer with some black grains floating around. Yeasty, but nonetheless interesting aroma with mango and orange peel. Flavor is balanced but on the thin side - almost watery. Dry and minerallic and the bitterness is a less harsh than usual from this brewery (are they using very hard water???). Creamy mouth feel with lively carbonation. A characterful beer with some flaws - but I wouldn’t mind having again.

Notches marked March/05. Born or best? Hazy gold with a few floaters, topped by a frothy, 1 inch white cap. Aroma of old grains similar to a very light whiskey with a few ice cubes melted in it. Sweet fruits, mildly sour funky yeast, vinegar, also. Flavors are sweet and fruity, rich yet crisp malt, a subtle herbal/pepper spiciness, tangy vinegar, just a bit of musty funk, and a dry yeasty finish that makes me want to drink it way too fast. Very mellow. Full, smooth palate. Solid brew, have to try some of their others.

bottle from 2006. Spicy musty aroma, yeasty with cinnamon and coriander with very sweet malts and a mild funk. Pours slightly hazy orange with a thick white head. Slightly tart upfront with a sweet bread-like malts flavor, very floral with hints of mint and herbs mild earthy funk with hints of candi sugar towards the end. Highly carbonated a crisp bright finish.
