COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the classic beer of Brouwerij ‘t IJ. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger, blonde beers in Belgian tradition. Zatte more than lives up to expectations in this respect. It is a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious beer that can be enjoyed in all seasons.

Silty and herbs (koriander?) and some citrus aroma. Tastes sweet, but not like sugar, more from herbs, hints of tulip bulbs, koriander again and nicely hopped! Great one!

Appearance: Clear amber with thin beige head. Aroma: Spice, fruity, yeasty, malty. Taste: Medium sweetness, low/medium bitterness and low sourness. Palate: Light/medium thick grainy body and texture, average carbonation, abrupt fruity, spicy, malty finish. Comments: Good. Easy to drink.

Classic IJ brew, closer to an ’edelbier’ than a true tripel, but in any case a very enjoyable ale with pleasant bready and sweetish maltiness, fruity, spicy notes, quite complex with a light herbal hop bitterness in the finish as well as warming, but not astringent alcohol.

Pushes the boundary of what a tripel should be, or at least a little bit. Sweet and terrifyingly easy to drink at 8%.

Hazy yellow colour. Aroma is spicy, yeasty and sweet. Flavour has a pleasant peppery edge perhaps with a touch of clove and is not too sweet.
