goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 26, 2008 poured a hazy gold color with an off-white head. The aroma was very spicy with odd phenols. Spicy flavor with a touch of odd smoke and spiced finish. Light to medium body.
dkachur (723), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2008 Draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, poured into a snifter. Weird yellowish brown color (my friend said rotten banana) with a huge rocky head and great lacing. Slightly musty and very earthy and herbal aroma. Taste is earthy, herbal and a touch smoky. Notes of caramel, citrus and lemongrass. Bitter hops in the background. Definitely an odd brew. hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2008 11.2oz bottle. This one poured all head (and I mean all head). Eventually settled into a medium to deeper and cloudy golden color. Some big floaters. Aromas of spices (lots of pepper with cloves), yeast, bananas, and some citrus. Tastes of the same spiciness, fruity, some yeast, and very light citrus. Light to medium alcohol in the finish. I would have guessed this one was a Belgian Strong vs. an IIPA. wickedpete (551), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Aug 16, 2008 Hazy gold color with a creamy thick head. Aroma is sweet caramel malty, with a nice peppery hop note. Caramel malt flavor and lots of smoke flavor up front lasting through the finish along with a bitter hop bite in the back. The smoke and hops fight against each other at first and don’t quite meld nicely. adrian910ss (1009), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a very cloudy gray honey gold with an enormous foamy white head. Aroma of spice, banana, cloves, belgian yeast and papaya. Taste is spicy with hints of cloves, banana, yeast and faint citrus hops. Jonte (365), Gothenburg, Sweden Aug 15, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy blonde color with a white head. Aroma: Very sweet, belgian yeast, spices, banana, citrus, sugar and smoke?. Flavor: Sweet and yeasty, tropical fruit, banana, spices, sugar, citrus, honey, earth, bitter hops, and some smoke in the taste as well?. Full bodied. Interesting and different beer, but half a bottle was enough.
