Bottle. Very yeasty and peppery marcipan aroma. Dark brown/orange cloudy colour. Flavour is malty, alcoholic, caramelly. Burnt aftertaste.

Murky dark tan color with a moderate head of beige bubbles. Aromas of baked buttered apples with caramel and anise seeds. Whiffs of alcohol permeate the nose as it is swirled. Palate is rather smooth for the size of this brew - Granted mine does seem to have carbonation which does seem to be missing from quite a few of the brews rated. Lightly oily with enough fizz to keep it from sticking to the tongue. LIght start. Some caramel malt and and a touch of oak. The finish in this one has more notes of interest with some drunken light fruit, calvados, and green malt. Really seems like an average barley wine.

Amber-red, slight bronze shine, hazy; yellow-amber head, stable and leaving lace. Sherrywood, lactic acid-like nose and indeed - old harvest apples. Dried fruit (cherries, apples, figs) but not sweet, alleviated as it is by a very restrained but seemingly active lactic acid, and a bitterness that is definitely tannine and a bit spicey. Beer is both incredibly severe and frivolously complex. Something like berries, laid up in alcohol. Very well-bodied, full MF, oily & slick, and infinitely complex. I cannot follow anybody who would look cross at the brewer, because he fills these casks on special demand from the USA. This is an enrichment for Belgian brewing, more power to B. United.

Looks like mud in the glass. Alcohol aroma coupled with something reminicent of brandy. Very sweet barley taste along with an obvious alcohol kick.

Cloudy Dark Orange Coloring With White Head. Citrusy...Rich Sweet Flavor...Little Carbonated.... Brandy Aroma.. Some Barley...and Bread Dough in There As Well. Alcohol Not as Noticeable as You Would Think. Decent Brew.

Cloudy burnt sienna colored. Alcoholic/biscuity nose, fresh baked and buttered! Huge malts are held together with plenty of sweet sugars and alcohol. I thought this was fabulous and tasty! Calvados casking adds just enough burning earthiness to make a complex beer that doesn’t go over the top with abv. Yum!

Pity this comes in small bottles. It’s good stuff and underrated. This stuff is aged in calvados casks. You guys are normally doing jumping jacks at the mere mention of barrel aging. What gives? I don’t give a rip if it was aged in a dumpster, I like the stuff. Behind it’s mild mannered murky brown, small headed demeanor there’s a beast lurking. Big malty nose with a spicy citrus hint and maybe a touch of apple. Explosive malt flavor balanced by big spice and heavy slap of bitterness. Loads of fruit--apple, peach, pear, apricot. A bit of a boozy, rum-raisin kind of character that warms the body nicely. Some resiny woody notes in the finish stick to the tongue and leave you wanting more.

Dates, wood and alcohol in the nose. Hazy brown with thin, off-white head. Overly sweet and vinous with some nutty tones. Medium-full body is very still in the mouth. Perhaps this would benefit from additional aging as it just seems overwhelmed by the barrel aged flavours. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere at Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn, New York).

Agoraphobic honey sweetness scaring away most other flavor contenders...Peaches, dried apricots and apple sauce develop from the still sweetness and manage to let in some black pepper afterthoughts...Alcohol breaths roams freely and frequently in this lazy sipper of Belgian creativity...
