fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a one finger light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, a hint of coffee, and light roast. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and very smooth alcohol. More like a Belgian Strong Ale with a little roast but still very good. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Sep 21, 2008 I like the look of this beer, but it feels more like a barley wine than an imperial stout, the look is heaver amber brown. The flavor hits you hard in the start and then mellows outs. still very malty and hoppy. One to enjoy nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 21, 2008 The aroma is weak with sugar, yeast, rye like malt, and lots of hops. The appearance is nice with a red brown color and a large tan head. Sadly it looks nothing like a stout. The flavor is not very good because its too bitter for a stout in a hoppy way. The palate is thin for a stout. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 20, 2008 Courtsey of Fishingnet.
Pours cloudy.with thin brownish head.
Taste : fruity, malty, light coffee flavor, some hop bitteness, and lightly roasted aftertaste.
Pretty hard to pin point it as an imp stout, had too much carbonation. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 17, 2008 Bottle pours out a brown topped with a san head. Aroma of roast, sweetness and some spice. Taste of pit fruit, roast, and a little sweetness. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Sep 16, 2008 Pours dark brown/near black with a mostly receding tan head. Aroma of mild roast, pepper, anise, dark vanilla, and chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted amlts, plum, rye and rum. Full to heavy bodied with lush carbonation. Yum. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 15, 2008 Bottle received via trade with dchmela. Pours hazy dark brown with a large, frothy, light brown head, mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, chocolate, nutty), light hops (herbs), average yeast (dough, leather, earth) with notes of prune, date, apple, and brown sugar. Full bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. bhensonb (4182), Woodland, California, USA Sep 14, 2008 Bottle from Wine & Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Dark brown color (not quite opaque) with a humongous multi-finger tan head. Aroma is rather smoky, like a scotch ale. Near medium body with chewy carbonation. Flavor is smoky malt. There are some fruit notes - not dark fruit. More like light stone fruits and ripe tropicals. It’s quite spicy. Interesting. More of a smoky strong ale than a stout. Thins into the finish and leaves with faint sweetness. No doubt that it’s from Belgium.
