Almost clear dark brwon, perhaps the lightest color imperial stout that I’ve seen, with ahuge, gushing foamy head that portends trouble.Caramel aroma with something funky going on. Medium sticky palate, a bit watery. There are some off flavors and a tinny aftertaste. I suspect a bad bottle, especially after looking at recent ratings. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Bottle @ La Trappe, SF. Pours a murky brown with a giant tan head. Chocolate is evident in the malty aroma. Sweet candi sugar, dates, raisins, roasted malts dominate the body. Dry, biting finish. A definite winner, roasted nut/malt character is only signal of a stout. mbuisman79 (139), Amsterdam, Netherlands

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Pours a hazlenut brown with an enormous fizzy light brown head. It has a very Belgian aroma with yeast, overripe fruit and a hint of roasted malt and chocolate. Tastes spicy and creamy with notes of caramel, toffee, wood and chocolate and a nice earthy bitter end. These Belgian imperial stouts are new for me, and I like them. Very satisfying, full bodied and creamy. The alcohol is well hidden. BartC (401), Lichtaart, Belgium

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Bottle. Dark reddish brown body with a frothy light brown head. Bit roasty aroma with dark fruity notes with caramel and sugar. Some alcohol as well. Yeasty flavour with some hard roasted malt and overripe fruit. Dry finish with some tart tobacco like touch. The alcohol is present as well. More like a dark belgian strong ale than an Imperial Stout.
