August 2010. From bottle. Pours amber color with a white head. This is not your traditional IPA but more IPA meets Belgian yeast and style. Still an intersting brew, but not for me.

Bottle. An unclear, orange-golden beer topped by a dense, finger-thick head. The aroma has some pine cones, but it’s mostly in the Belgian style of strong blondes or tripels. Sweet, fruity and sugary flavor with a decent bitterness. Full-bodied, quite smooth on the palate. A decent beer, but it lacks quite a lot to match the really nice Belgian Ales meeting American IPA hopping. 120525

Strange hazy blond yellow colour. Bottle from 2008. I think this beer must have been better some years ago. Strange fruity aroma (grapefruit, banana, bubblegum). Bitter aftertaste. Very strange example of an IPA.

33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Brussels. Rated on 18.07.2010
Aroma is somewhat fruity with grassy hops and some caramel. Flavour has lots of grassy hops, some fruits, biscuits and hints of nettles. Decent, a DIPA in Belgian way.

33cl bottle. Dark orange colour with some redish tones and a large head, which finally vanishes. Looks and smells really good, but I expected better taste. It’s like a mix of IPA and barley wine, not bad but too sweet for me. Alcohol is also present in taste.

Looks slightly hazy orange with lots of effervescence and a bubbly fluffy head decent lacing and lots of sediment which was left with the dregs while I drank the first half of the beer (but never wasted!) I take a whiff and get a lot of hops, citrus peel, and yeast, not bad at all! Tastes a lot like it smells but even heavier on the hops than I was expecting. Tastes like they Possibly use American hops in this one, not sure though. Grapefruit flavors are abundant, the fruit and zest more so at the beginning and spicy bitter peel coming through at the end. Also some alcohol warmth coming through at the end, can’t be surprised with this one coming in at 10%. I did find it a bit too effervescent at first but that of course calmed down as I drank. I liked this one quite a bit but I would not see myself drinking more than one in a night. A bit overkill on the palate. A very good beer that goes beyond the boarders of the typical Belgian IPA and one hopheads should all be down with.

I guess this is a European style DIPA. Poured at a good temperature with a smallish, off-white, foamy head that soon settled and no lace. Color is a cloudy brown amber and not that appealing. Aroma is first yeast, then grain, hop, malt, musty. Flavor is sweet on top then carbonic tang and hop/yeast bitter. Body & carbonation ok. Finish is like flavor, longish, and boozy. Not one of my favs. Won’t finish it.

Bottle from Vinens Verden. Huge frthy head with excellent duration. Color is hazy golden. Aroma and taste are grass, earthy hops, flowers, malt and notes of fruits.
