Bottled sample via lubiere. Redish brown in colour with somewhat fizzy carbonation. Aromas of whole wheat bread, molasses, dates, raisins, with a hint of citrus and booze. Lighter bodied and dryer than expected, with notes of bready malts, chalk, a bit more raisin, and some woody and herbal hops. Fairly drinkable for the abv. While I prefer my dubbels dry, this one is just a bit too dry... even for me.

Dark brown with a fizzy head. Honey brown sugar and fruit aroma. Dark fruit and honey taste with a bright lively palate.

33 cl. Opaque, plum-brown color with a small spit of foam that leaves spots of soapy lace. Aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar and red wine. Flavors of dark fruit, earthy cellar, leather, nutmeg, tart cherry, red wine and oak. These all usually add up to an outstanding taste rating from me, but something is slightly amiss with this one, maybe the wateriness or near flatness. Medium body is watery, smooth with very little carbonation, and dry.

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown with a thick foamy tan head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet, malty, maple syrup, ripe dark fruit, molasses. Flavor is sweet, malty, musty, some woody notes, some faint smokiness. Generally medium to full body with a malty and slightly oaky finish.

Bottle froom the Foodery II. Pours a very dark cloudy chestnut brown with a thin tan foam head. There is a nice spiciness in the aroma complimenting the chocolate maltiness, dark fruit and earthy hops. The flavor is a nice balance of choclate, maltiness, plum, raisin, date, fig. Well balanced throughout with a dry bitter finish.

Draft at the Thirsty Monk. Thanks Zoe ;) Very different. Not the typical yeast flavor I’ve come to expect from belgians. Some banana, nuttiness, farmhouse.

Bottle. Hazy brown with a big foam. Aromas are caramel malts with soft spices. Some vanilla. Flavours are yeasty with soft malts. Caramel and cream with spices. A bit different.
