Concentrated prunes, plums and other dark fruits in the aroma; some molasses and turbinado sugar; cloudy, deep amber color under a very slight, course, rocky head; mild, fruity flavor; fairly dead palate; more dark fruits and some musty malts and stale hoppiness; very mild spiciness; well hidden alcohol and light bodied, with a dry finish. Overall, rather good.

2008 bottle shared. Pours cloudy brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, overripe dark fruit, prunes, chocolate and a slight funky sourness (maybe not aged too well). Flavour is over moderate sweet, light bitter and light sour. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

33cl bottle vintage 2008 courtesy of ans shared with Kermis. Thanks! Very thin white head. Hazy amber pour. Slight sourness but still a nice brew.

4 years old. Thanks Umberto. The pour is reddish brown with a small white head. The nose is spice like cloves and cardamom, some dark fruit a d brown sugar. The taste is medium sweet and high bitter but in a metallic oxidized way. Not good. The mouthfeel is an astringent dryness. The body is light and finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours cloudy, almost chunky medium brown with a huge light tan head. Aroma is very fruity, quite yeasty, moderately sweet, light citrus. Flavor is all that plus dates, toffee, slightly pungent yeast, some candy sugar. Rather boozy. Odd palate -- astringent, almost burns?! Good stuff, except for the odd palate.

In t’Bruges Beertje - a nice robust dubbel with loads of flavour, big boozy kick in there. Made all the better by the atmosphere in the pub. Lots of sweetness in there, a bit of maltiness, cake fruits et al. Very nice to look at too.

Not really what I was expecting, but an interesting beer nonetheless. Nose is all sweet... dark bread, brown sugar and yeast. Up front the mouth is earthy and then maybe caramel with a bitter, acidic finish that is almost overpowering. Mouthfeel is dominated by the needles from the acidic finish, but it also quite foamy in the mouth. Nice stuff, for sure. Pours brown with a small layer of head that sticks around, little lacing. Opaque with lots of sediment in the bottle.

11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours weird brown with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, caramel malts, some sugar and chocolate, a little floral hops, and some alcohol. Flavor the same. Average texture. A pretty good beer for the style.

330 ml bottle via BelgianShop. Pours a medium brown with a huge head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, and dried dark fruit. Spicy flavor with distinct dark fruit notes (dates?). A little sweet. Acidic finish.

33 cL bottle into own glass at the Brugse Beertje. Dark red with a good head on it. Heavily spiced and hopped. Spiced aroma, not much else. Strong spice taste dominates.
