Bottle sampled at Toronado San Diego with Katie. We wanted to try something random, so we plucked this one off the bottle list. Clear mahogany color with low carbonation and some beige lace. Aroma of sweet smoke, dates, and toffee. Flavor is very sweet with a bit of raisin bread and sweet dark malts. Honey flavors kick in at the end. A bit too sweet for my tastes, but a good one to try.

Jan 6, 2009 Bottle purchased from Johns Grocery in Iowa City. Pour was a dark amber color with minimal carbonation. Aroma was very sweet, malty and sugary. Flavor was heavy in malty sweetness, although not too overbearing. Aftertaste was a little plum and then melted away. Very good!

Jan 4, 2009 Bottle at Brugs Beertje. Pours hazy ruddy brown with a solid off-white head. Spices, yeast and some fruit nose. Caramel and fruit flavours, ending on a surprisingly dry note. A bit hard on the tongue. Very drinkable and hides its strength well.

Dec 12, 2008 Bottled sample via lubiere. Redish brown in colour with somewhat fizzy carbonation. Aromas of whole wheat bread, molasses, dates, raisins, with a hint of citrus and booze. Lighter bodied and dryer than expected, with notes of bready malts, chalk, a bit more raisin, and some woody and herbal hops. Fairly drinkable for the abv. While I prefer my dubbels dry, this one is just a bit too dry... even for me.

Dec 5, 2008 Dark brown with a fizzy head. Honey brown sugar and fruit aroma. Dark fruit and honey taste with a bright lively palate.
