dankman38 (217), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2008 Pours copper/amber with powerful head and no lacing. The nose has scents of carmel and lots of spices. The flavor is sweeter than I expected but you notice the spice and whisky pretty well. The finish lingers and the beer is quite smooth but it is a wee bit over-the-top.
Sammy (3020), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2008 This brewery has been barrel-ageing up a storm and this is no exception. The whiskey is prominent. It is good looking and most drinkable, despite the booziness which is apparent. Average mouthfeel. acrdz (4248), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 5, 2008 330ml from Schroppfy. Tawny rust colored body. Nose of heavy alcohol (scotch), rye, some berries, and some sweet maple. Flavor is quite sweet and heavy with alcohol, boozy, with nuts, toast and wood flavors throughout, and a small berry/twig note at times. Decent stuff but not great. kmweaver (1948), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Aug 3, 2008 11.2oz bottle, courtesy of acrdz, pre-BCTC tasting. Thanks, Mike! Pours a very hazy, golden-amber color; thin, mixed-bubbled white head with patchy lacing. Very dusty, boozy cognac / gin, alcoholic fruit in the aroma; dusty, complex, and boozy; a touch harsh. Similar appearance in the mouth: dusty dried red fruits, burnt malts, and a touch of chocolate; slightly (ok, more than slightly) astringent and blatantly woody; odd stuff. Lengthy finish: boozy aperitif, dried fruits, caramel, and burnt malts. MaltDawg (287), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bottle shared with Maniac and Butters. Another belgian that literally could fill pages to fully describe. Pear and peachy fruityness with bread aromas along with hints of alchohol and cheese.
Cloudy amber golden with small white head. Winey woody smoky with peach pair fruityness and alchohol included in flavor. Dry finish with a touch of sourness. Medium body with high carbonation. Thrilling Butters (305), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 17, 2008 Shared with maniac and maltdawg. Translucent orange amber pour with fair off-white head. Notes of cheese, yeast, caramel, and oak. Good medium body. But The price of this beer, outweighs it’s excellent characteristics.
