Deep ruby amber with a thin white head that doesn’t last long. Sweet aroma of fruity malt, plums, figs, raisins. Flavor is sweet yet tart, bordering on lambic territory. Notes of figs, raisins, honey, caramel. Warm alcohol finish. Interesting and tasty.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tarjei (1941) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAY 15, 2008
33 cl bottle at Plan B, Copenhagen. Dark brown color, fast disappering off-white head. Aroma is fruity! Flavor is fruit, but not too sweet. Balanced ale.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 thewolf (8245) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 11, 2008
Bottle, bought @ Tønden, Haslev.
Pours muddy, unpleasant brown with a fizzy head that disappears as it’s poured. Aroma is light murky, lots of dried fruits, especially raisins. Some caramel and honey as well. High carbonation, but still a bit thin. Flavour has lots of fruity sweetness, lots of character from the raisins. Light tartness as well. A bit too high carbonation, but still rather nice.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 10, 2008
Wow, this was different, one of those beers you will either love or hate, but will definitely wake up or kill your palate depending on the situation. have had this on a couple of different occasions. Slightly syrupy on the palate, coating the tongue, lots of caramel and waxy honey notes, dark fruits are slightly overloaded, but come across slightly vinous and viscous on the tongue. I like it, but you really have to be prepared for something radically different.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Tenderstone (25) - Renton, Washington, USA - APR 23, 2008
Poured a dark orange with a medium head. Aroma of raisins and hint of honey. Somewhat heavy on the palate, with too much dark fruit flavor for my liking. Individually, raisin or honey might work, but for me, they didn’t work together here. It just didn’t taste enough like beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 yespr (20656) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - APR 17, 2008
33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a lacing off-white head. Sweet aroma of overripe to dried fruity and a solid caramel malt base. Flavour is quite sweet, mix of bread and fruit with a light sour and sweet brown sugarish mix. Light yeasty note lurking through. I would say that this is cloyingly sweet, but somehow it works okay if you’re prepared for it.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 nick76 (3461) - Tampa, Florida, USA - APR 16, 2008
The aroma does have raisins, honey, malt, vinegar, and yeast. The appearance is amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is average. I don’t really like this one.
