"Dirty" copper color with scads of effervescence streaming through the liquid and forming a tall parfait type head - Lots of tiny bubbles on the bottom that turn into shiny light canvas colored bubbles on the top. More a coating of foam verses lace. A light sweet sour scent with cherries and buckwheat honey. Sweet start with mild apples, light berries, white grapes and a very light honey attribute. A touch of acidity and a tart cherry flavor pops in to make things crisp and interesting. Easy to drink, I could see this being served with a Waldorf Salad. I can’t call it great, but I have a hard time setting it down. Far to drinkable for 8%.

Bottle from Artisan Wine Depot. $5.89 A good Belgium Beer but not that complex. It is tasty. Aroma old raisins, winter spice, hint of banana. Not as sweet as some of the reviews mention. The biggest thing that stands out is the strong acidic raisins. A hint of maple and stinging carbonation. Dirty finish.

33 cl bottle at brewery smiske in Mater. Dark brown with red shine body and large off white head. Very sweet caramel and raisin taste. Too sweet for me. **

Rich aroma with bread, fruit, caramel, and spice. Flavor is sweet with coffee cake and fruit. A little alcohol in the finish for balance. A little too sweet, but I still liked this a lot better than the rating suggests.

2013.01.27 - Regenboog (t Smisje) Guido - 11.2oz bottle in goblet glass. This must be an older bottle as it's clearly marked Regenboog and not t Smisje. Pours a raisin color caramel, slightly red. Little to no head, about a half cap that settles to a lightly foamy ring. Aroma is sweet honey and a bit of bready yeast. Mouthfeel is pretty light and slick. Medium carbonation. Taste is OK. Not as sweet as you'd expect with honey and raisins but it's there. I'm also guessing this bottle is well past its prime, no date indications to tell for sure. There is sweetness on the front end. At the very back end it almost resolves to a bit of a smoky flavor and just a trace of alcohol warmth. Not bad, I may seek out fresher vintages. Aroma 5/10, Appearance 3/5, Taste 6/10, Palate 3/5, Overall 14/20

Tastes like a double and looks like a double. Sweet taste followed by alcohol. Brown Carmel color with a 1/4" layer of head. Pleasant Belgian beer. Would probably rather have a St. Bernardus Christmas or Abt 12. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2oz bottle in a tulip. Pours brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some caramel and darker malts, dark fruit, and some floral hops. Flavor the same, with the honey and raisins making a nice addition. Average texture. A decent Belgian beer.

Bottle at ’t Brugs Beertje

Pours a deep amber color with a medium sized, well retained white head.

The aroma is fruit forward with some pear and apple, plenty of toffee sweetness and a nice floral character.

The flavor is sweet and spicy, very peppery and floral with a very mild bitterness. There are light roasty and chocolaty notes that evoke mocha. This beer is just sort of all over the place, but it’s very nice also.

Palate is full & a little sticky.

(bottle, 33cl, gushing) Hazy, dark amber coloured turbid hue with a big and slightly tanned foamy head. Sweet and caramel-malty aroma with notes of candy, honey and red berries. Sweet, slightly sugary flavour with a tinge of sourness in the background, medium to full bodied with a lively carbonation. Slightly sugary cara-malty base with notes of candied fruits; sweet malty and fruity finish with a noticeable alcoholic touch and a late arriving level of bitterness. Okay, but a tad too sweet and gushy for my liking. 29.III.12

Bottled, 330ml from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. Brown to orange with no head. All the carbonation had left this so it had the appearance of flat coke. Initial tart fruity flavour with a background rich sweetness, quite full on the palate. Lasting slight cherry like sourness later on, a little unbalanced, still no problem to drink though.

Bottled@Belgobaren, Stockholm. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is spices, honey, raisins and some slight notes of alcohol and mild resiny notes as well. Flavour is spices, honey, mild yeastyness as well as some raisins, sweet malts and mild notes of alcohol. Wellbalanced and quite pleasant.
