3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 emacgee (2844) - Carrboro, North Carolina, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Shared by durhambeer. Thanks bobby wobby. Pours a hazy dark amber with a creamy offwhite head. THe nose is sweet, has a rummy raisiny character to it, sports the Belgian yeast as well, earthy and woody with a mild candy sweetness. The flavor is earthy, has a distinct bubblegum character to it, spicy bitterness, warming alcohol, honey. The palate is dry and a little hot.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (2918) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 30, 2008
Bottle shared at the Carolina Crew tasting by durhambeer - thanks, Bob! A strong Belgian wheat, eh? Okay. It’s a cloudy amber pour, with crisp and light carbonation. Nose is strongly reminiscent of brandy barrels. The taste is fairly odd, a mix of the sharply grassy and tart qualities of the designated style along with some unexpected sweetness - like ucusty sez, bubblegum for sure. The finish is earthy, and a bit rough. Not bad.

Thanks to Bob for sharing this one! Hazy brown pour and fluffy off white head. Dark fruity nose similar of a BW. Alcohol seemed well masked. Caramel and dark fruits. Earthy dry finish with notable hints of bubblegum
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 durhambeer (2028) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 29, 2008
Bottle shared with select members of the Carolina Crew. Dark amber pour with bubbly white head. Nose similar to a barleywine, more so than most Belgians... fruity and sweet. A bit more sharp and pungent, slightly earthy on the tongue. Stewed fruit and light spice. Light on the palate and easy to drink considering the ABV.

Looks fine, amber, unclear. Yeasty aroma, pepper. Flavor is acidic, heavy and a bit unpleasent. Pepper once more. Watery, acidic texture.

A clear red/amber colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of sweet malts, hops fruits and spices. The taste of sweet fruit like apricots with hints of cherries. There is hop bitterness and spices. The flavor of alcohol. The aftertaste has a long litlle bitter and it is dry.
