Fruitcake maltiness and fresh apple pie spices thoughout, with some citrus acidity, and a big enough malt background to hold it all together, and still remain balanced, and cover up the high ABV. Impressive little beer for the holidays.

Hazy, red-brown with a huge, creamy and lasting head. the aroma has sweetness, light roasted malt, spice and light citrus. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of citrus, spicy yeast, roasted malt and the finish has a citrussy bitterness. It’s quite charming, and you do not feel the 11% in the flavour.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 rampmaster (643) - Alden, New York, USA - APR 25, 2008
Thanks to Patra for this wonderful birthday gift. It pours a dark iced tea color with a thick white head that fades off quickly. It does leave some lace on the glass even without much of a head. The aroma has sweet ripe fruit notes with bready malts and earthy yeast. The medium body is full of malts, yeast and coriander. Sweet and sour fruit notes pop out then fade off into a light bitter hops finish. Over all it’s a very good, but average, Belgian ale.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BBB63 (4939) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAR 29, 2008
Stubby bottle and served in tulip: Coppery hazed hue with a fading frothy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and bready malts, earthy Belgian yeast, coriander, white pepper, peach and apricot esters and some lacto sourness. The taste is moderately funky and earthy with a fruity character over a malty base supported by a spicy finish. Not a huge fan of the aftertaste however as it is a bit medicinal and boozy. The mouth feel is sprite and warming with a dry finish. Okay minus the aftertaste which knocks it down a notch.
