Poured a rather cloudy orange-yellow color with a small head that remained as a thin layer. Minimal lacing (short lived after each sip). The aroma was belgian-esque, no mustard: some yeastiness and even sweet and wheatiness in there. Flavor was citrus-like, rather sour-bitterish, with a bit of dryiness in the finish. Mouthfeel was thin and slightly acidic. Where is the mustard? Only slightly in the aftertaste. Maybe I’d have rated this higher if I was ready for the sour aspects of the beer. Certainly wasn’t in the mood for it this evening. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 A nice, pale amber color with a lacing, white head. Aroma is mostly yeast fruit not unlike a Steenberge Triple and honey malt. The spice is not very expressive but I want to smell it and I do not know if I am just imaginig it or if the mustard seed is actually there. Very nice flavor with a great, spicy body, ale yeast fruit, and a good, appetizing residual sweetness. WISEGUY572 (1245), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 12, 2006 OK ... why would anyone really need a mustard ale? I had this with sausages, sauerkraut, and mustard, and thought that it would be a perfect complement. It worked all right, but the beer was less interesting than I expected, with only the faintest hints of mustard. Cloudy Belgian golden color, small head. Nothing remarkable in the nose or the taste to signal the mustard. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 1, 2006 The words mustard ale caught my attention and I had to try it. A cloudy henna body sits under a small and fleeting beige head. An ever so slight hint of the mustard seed greets the nose, mingled with some fruit notes, caramel, and yeast. Medium bodied, acidic, watery. The flavor was quite interesting. Elements of the spices and fruit mingled well. This wasn’t such a bad beer after all. bu11zeye (5442), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 1, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a cloudy amber-brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fruitiness, candy, and herbs. Falvor of malt, mild hops, and a unique sweetness (suppose it is the mustard) with a bit of grittiness in the finish. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 25, 2006 Bottle @ Beertje. Cloudy amber pour. Aroma is malty with a bit of honey and something indeterminate. Bitterness and sourness in ale form. Kandis. Bites the tongue. Slightly harsh. No trace of mustard. Well-balanced wih a nice malt/bitter finish, but I don’t really like this. iowaherkeye (1851), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Apr 22, 2006 11.2oz bottle, no date. Just realized these are the same guys that made Vuuve, which I absolutely hated. Pours a chunky orange copper with no head, just a little white fizz around the edge of my glass. Smells a little like a saison with some bad sour fruits. Also has some unappealing mustiness. Taste sucks, biscuity malt finish. Don’t even know how to explain the taste--it’s sour and rank. Another sucky beer. Drain pour. JK (2949), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2006 Lots of funk in this beer. The spice is light but there is enough weirdness to make me think I am drinking a saison. No mustard flavor. Cloudy orange with no head but significant sediment. Light sweetness. Lots of yeast in the aroma and flavor. This is a smooth and light beer with good palate and it is very easy to drink. Not worth the original price of $4, but a bargain on clearance at $1.50.
