Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Mar 21, 2006 Pleasant light fruitiness in the aroma, typical Belgian spicy-earthy aroma, nothing jumps out at you. Hazy orange-blonde color, decent white head. Bright fruity flavor, it has a corriander-like fruity-spiciness to it, but it’s not quite corriander (and it doesn’t remind me of mustard at all). Medium body with moderate-high carbonation. A nice, fruity Belgian ale with a subtle, unique spiciness to it. DrnkMcDermott (1830), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Mar 11, 2006 Updated: Sep 24, 2008Import 11.2 oz bottle. Not quite as spicy as the label might have you believe. Pours pretty bubbly, then settles to to a cloudy orange. Smell is mostly of the candi sugar and some general Belgian spiciness. Taste: Well, not a lot of character to it. Just sticky. Some light malts, the sugar, a little orange/lemon and a general spiciness. Nothing I can really attribute to the mustard seed. But just not much to impress me. IThinkImBuzzed (18), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Mar 8, 2006 Bottle. Poured a murky yellow with a small head. Faint aroma sweet and flowery. A nicely carbonated crisp, clean brew. Some spiced, mustard taste, but not very noticeable; helps drive home the crisp mouthfeel. Very drinkable, especially on a warmer day. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Mar 4, 2006 Sample BI Indy gathering 2/25/06 - Aroma is spicy, yeast, candi sugar, and malt. Pours transparent yellow-brown with small head and decent lacing. Flavor matches with the mustard in the finish. Palate is clean and crisp. Different and nice. SoLan (1367), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 26, 2006 Hazy orange/copper. Smaller, fizzy, white-ish head dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet, dominated by malt and candi sugar with a bit of yeast and crisp hops, also. Flavor up front is malt, sugar, and yeast atop a layer of subtle mustard seed. Second half is hops, mustard seed, and yeast over a little alcohol. Finish is mostly crisp, dry, bitter but has traces of the sweeter stuff. Aftertaste is musty barnyard yeast. Medium, well carbonated body. Carbonation helps to accent the finish on this one. Interesting, complex brew. I’d like to try this with double the amount of mustard seeds. smcd (366), USA Feb 19, 2006 I am a mustard fan and this beer didn’t disappoint. It is full of unique qualities that demand one’s own judgment be applied. Definitely picked up the mustard aroma and taste. Not overpowering, and not "hot", but definitely noticible. Candi sugar aromas and some caramel also come through on the nose. The mustard quality is balanced by a pleasantly sweet maltiness and discreet hoppiness. Unfiltered, the yeasty qualities compliment the mustard qualities of this delicious beer. mephisto (1144), Taiwan Feb 13, 2006 a fruity and yeasty beer with a note of cheeze. a little sweet but well balanced. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Feb 1, 2006 330 ml bottle. Clear light brown. White subdued head only around the sides. Old ale-like musty sweetness. Not really mustard aroma, more of an ale lagered a bit too long. Not really oxidized either, because the aroma is quite nice. Light bodied. Some sourness. Quite refreshing. I had feared this beer, but my fears where unfounded.
