Schroppfy (1810), Ohio, USA May 9, 2005 Fresh natural, stinging yeast - a touch acidic and peppery, this is a nice, moderately-bodied refreshing Regenboog beer. Similarities to the wholesomeness of the Sleedorn. Delicious. Diminished in aroma compared to others from this brewery. Engelsmann (653), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 24, 2005 ZBF 2005. Pours dark golden. Aroma is sweet fruity, and of yeast. Taste is rather sweet malty, with some yeasty spice MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Apr 8, 2005 Sourish aroma. Cloudy dark golden colour, small creamy head. Nice, mild acidity. Sweet and malty. ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 4, 2005 Amber colored with an off white head. Definite mustard presence on the nose, with some yeastiness as well. Flavor is mustard and horseradish, with some yeast and a bit of sweetness. An interesting taste, but I don’t think I’ll ever drink this again. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 30, 2005 Zythos Beer Festival, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium 2005. Dark golden colour with a big white head. Sweet light spicy acid aroma (infected)? Light sweet sour fruity taste. Medium body and a sweet sour finish. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 10, 2005 I have nothing to compare this to style wise. I know of no other mustard beer. Prominent pepper spice and mustard on the palate. some earthy, leather hints and candy sugar . very odd finish with some bitterness probably from the mustard. rauchbier (2992), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Feb 25, 2005 Bottle conditioned, courtesy of John White. Hazy gold, moderate but lasting white head and good condition. Low spicy, almost wheaty aromas with a distant phenolic trace that could be a slight infection, but then again could be the mustard.Slight fruitiness initially in the mouth followed by a honey sweetness but then a wave of tingling heat develops, presumably from the mustard. Its not an unpleasant sensation and blends well with the sweetness to provide some balance. Sweet and warming finish with some black pepper, a hint of apples, a gentle chalky bitterness and finally there is some retronasal alcohol.
Jonathan3584 (323), Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 21, 2005 Smells like a standard Belgian -- no mustard here. Dark gold; white head; no lacing. Tastes Belgian with a little different spicing. Still no blatant mustard. Carbonated, thin palate.
