Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Apr 26, 2008 Pours hazy, amber with an off-white, foamy and short living head. Spicy nose (mustard?) with yeast. Spicy and sweet flavour with light malt and fruit. Slightly bitter and more sour finish. Light to medium bodied. Odd...
rampmaster (315), Alden, New York, USA Apr 24, 2008 Thanks to Patra for this wonderful birthday gift. It is safe to say that this is the oddest beer that I have tasted. It pours the color of apple cider with a hazy body and a foamy white head. Wostytje has a funky aroma of hard apple cider, pineapple and yeast. The taste hits you with sour apple cider vinegar and funky earthy yeast. Then it turns somewhat sweet in the middle and end with an odd bitter and mustardy finish. The body is medium with a smooth texture. Overall it’s a very odd beer. Unique. However for me the flavors just don’t work together at all. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 19, 2008 Bottle from WLV. Beautiful pour! Hazylight caramel orange, with billowy white head. Head lingers long into the drink leaving behind some large arching lacing. Green apple mingles with banana and black pepper. Alcohol is present but adds to the aromas. Mustard doesnt seem like a predominant note in the aroma, though it is probably adding to the peppery alcohol mix. Flaovrs are strong but seem well rounded. Nice fruit flavors mix with the mustard and pepper flavors. Hot alcohol definately has a presence, but isn’t overwhelming. Finishes hot at first with bitterness from the mustard seed. Fades to a dry mustardy finishwith some woody character late into the finish. Some bready yeasty notes appear in the middle as it warms. I have had this beer before, recently in fact, and it definately had a noticible sour note that I am not getting from this bottle... a character which I was looking forward too. Not sure if it’s an ageing issue or what but I do miss it. Still I think this beer is underrated quite a bit. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Apr 16, 2008 an unique to say the least, it has many flavors including the mustard flavor that is so predominate with everybody else. what makes this interesting is how well it works. drinkable. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 16, 2008 The aroma does actually have some mustard with other spices, yeast, malt, hops, and sugar. The appearance is orange gold with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall I am not sure I am crazy about it but it’s interesting. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Apr 4, 2008 Bottle. Clear medium to dark orange amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, fruity - berry / sweet, light to moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter, light to moderate vinegar (mustard) with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (050308) Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Mar 19, 2008 Bottle, 33 cl. Re tasted, yesterday.
Orange-amber color, with a short lived white head. Aroma fruit, sweet, and spice. Medium body.
Taste yeast, spice, mustard, a sweet sour finish. Special.
faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Mar 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden colour with a fair head. Strangely sweet spiced mustard aroma. The flavour has yeast and mustard seeds with some spices and sweetness. Not such a good idea to put mustard (seeds) in beer.
