I do smell a little mustard aroma, faintly, but it's not offputting in any way. In fact, it lends some character and individuality to this beer. A pepperish ale with little Belgian characteristics, it's more of a golden-colored, slightly sour, quite fizzy, yeasty ale. Tough to categorize, easy to imbibe. My favorite mustard ale!

(Rating #883)

Big thanks to Phil D for this one. Murky orange pour with a clumpy head of suds. Aroma is tropical fruity with suggestions of pineapple and peach, dusty hops, vinegar, and the merest sniff of the mustard knife. Earthy, herbal and well-integrated with a hint of sourness, presumably from the mustard. But would never have identified it without reading the bottle. Soapy bitterness and a dab more mustard late on. A very sippable curiosity.

Draught at TDR: Fresh aroma of slight apple and slight mustard. Poured brown in color with a small tan head that lasted throughout. Very hazy. Very sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and slightly sour. Tastes of mustard seed, sour apples, spices, and slight fruit. Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Slightly sour, slight mustard, and sour apple finish. A very strange beer. It grew on me.

Brewed with mustard seeds but their flavor has well-integrated into the mash because I can’t taste it. Nice and refreshing beer, although also thin and not memorable.

The aroma does actually have some mustard with other spices, yeast, malt, hops, and sugar. The appearance is orange gold with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall I am not sure I am crazy about it but it’s interesting.

11oz Bottle: Pours a cloudy honeyish orange with a vanishing fizzy tan head. Sweet Belgian malt aroma, banana like yeastyness, clove and a hint of candi sugar. The flavor is slightly tart and acidic with a sour/spicy hint reminiscent of mustard (duh). It remind me of sweet and sour sauce with the spicy flavors clashing with the sweet maltyness. Slightly fruity with some sour apple notes, spicy apricots and a malt driven finish. An interesting and unique brew, not bad.

Pickled fruit, wit aroma. Sweet, tart, yeasty, rich. Apricot and orange. Very sophisticated drinking. Don’t know how much mustard is in ther but I’d never have called it. Finish is tangy, sweet. Very enjoyable. Blind Tiger, HHR 4th trip.
