Interesting little beer, I say that because this beer is little on flavor. The nose is a roasty coffee and milk chocolate with hints of cocoa. The palate is creamy but kind of light, the chocolate is there but kind of gets muddled, into a light and watery texture that is kind of below par for this brewery.

Draft at Tablerock: Dark brown, near black pour with two fingers of tan head and nice thick lacing. Aroma is a blend of roasted malt and coffee. Taste is more roasted malt and coffee, I think chocolate is present, but barely. A bit thin for a porter and watery comes to mind. Below par for a porter.

The darkest beer I had the opportunity to come across during my stay in Boise. Looks great, a nice thick foam is present, as is the lacing I love so much. The aroma is very little if totally non-existant here. There was cigarette smoke wafting in my face, and the thick smell of food all around wasn't so conducive either, but I swear this really didn't have much aroma at all. The flavor was interesting, the chocolate was apparent and not bad, but there wasn't enough palate umph to push across the flavor well. The malt just dies and leaves you with a slghtly astringent flavor. I expect a lot from chocolate porters, and I just didn't find it here.

Dark brown pour with mahogany edges. A tannish head and spotty lacing. Roasted and chocolate malts in the aroma along with some nuttiness and hops. Roast and chocolate malts again in the flavors, though I'm finding a slightly metallic note to it that creates a dischord to the beers harmony. Creamy palate and a malty body, yet that damned metal is all I am getting.

Black, tan head, great lacing. The head stays around until the end too. The aroma is grainy with a light hop touch but astringant and light for the style. Bland & watery with some stagnant standing dishwater/DMS or similar decomposing plant aromas. The flavor is lightly chocolatey but only by a reach; more like low-fat sugar-free chocolate skim milk. The finish is clean but extremely dry and not refreshing. I had much better hopes for this one.
