Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 21, 2003 Hazy amber pour with a nice head of small bubbles and good lacing. Sweet malts are mainly comprising the aroma, other than that it's pretty bland. Flavor is nutty, full of malt, and finishes with a hoppy bitterness. Smooth and full bodied. Not a bad bitter. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Sep 24, 2003 Very light coloring with some cloudiness and a bit of a creamy head. This was the worst bitter I have ever had. Extremely dry and unbalanced with a heavy buttery aftertaste. I did not think it was true to the style at all. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 18, 2003 Lightly hazy color with sandstone layered lacing, puffy head. Citrus hop and caramel aroma. Hops give a sweet presence to this one with the malt balancing it out excellently. Dry & bitter palate, very refreshing. Overall a very good esb, very straight forward and appropriate to the style.
