1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2013 The aroma is skunky and has a hint of bread malts, and the appearance is a straw golden color with a small white head that is fleeting. The taste quite sour and mildly sweet, and the palate combines a medium body, slick and thin texture, average carbonation, and a slightly sour finish.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
cold wet fizzy lager beer. This is typical asian lager. On a warm day this could be quite refreshing though you wouldn’t go out of your way to buy this. When in Taipei do as the Taipeans do.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from 99 Ranch Market (Kearny Mesa): Liquid appeared as a straw blonde and a violent formation of fizzy foam which left as quick as it built up. Nose is grassy hay and other such adjuncts that does bring better aroma than most Mexican and American pale lagers. The drink is sweet with malts and reminds me of a light diet version of Malta Goya. Also has a faint trace of skunk but the odd thing about this is that it’s from a brown bottle and not a green bottle like a couple of Chinese bottled beers I have tasted. Happy with $5.99 for a six-pack since anything else from the Macros or Micros is almost $10 for a sixer. I just needed a few cold ones while watching the Lakers final game of the season on a warm southern Cali evening. Easy on the palate and highly quaff-able

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a light crystal clear light yellow/almost golden with medium carbonation. Aromas of grass, slight toffee, and light grain. Flavors of dry straw/grass and slight rice! Lightly dry and crisp. A very one tone beer that is unlike many pale lagers in the flavors. No grain notice just light straw/rice. Clean finish with no grain aftertaste.

Oddly carbonated head. Powdered candy nose. Beer that you smell on people's breath. Super dry.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle from Kenwood Liquor. You know, scientists now say Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons, has an icy surface 10 miles thick, covering an ocean 100 miles deep, which could have the ingredients necessary for life. And I’ll bet they make better beer than this. Despite the brown bottle, it’s got a skunky smell. Perhaps I should consider it doesn’t have a date and probably sat on the shelf for months, but I’m feeling too ornery. Hazy straw color, a layer of fizz. Taste is mostly of adjuncts, some rubbing alcohol, and a little bitterness. I feel like I’m done with it now, but there’s half a bottle to go.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Canned @ home, courtesy of blackipa. Thanks for the fucken Taiwanese dong, bra! Pours a bit hazy yellow appearance with a thin white head. Rice, zesty lemon, a bit spicy, sweet malty aroma. Bitter, quite watery, a touch citrusy, lightly metallic flavor. Bleh.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
April 25th, 2012 - A regular shopping trip one day turned into an outing to the local Taiwanese market. It’s a well lit, slightly damp cornucopia of exceedingly fresh fish, vibrant greens and vegetables and all kinds of fun Taiwanese snacks, spices and sippable goodies. Somewhere near the check out lane I spotted Taiwan’s eponymous beer: Taiwan beer. For a buck a bottle I couldn’t decline the opportunity to try the beer that represents the whole of an island. Sadly, I don’t think the beer does justice to the social and economic richness of its homeland. It’s basically a terrible pale lager with a high fructose corn syrup laden cereal smell, pale and wan flavor and more terrible corn syrup flavors in the taste. This beer is, frankly, terrible and a diplomatic disaster.

Crisp and refreshing. Nothing to write home about but tasty on a hot day. Good carbonation, attractive golden hue, and just a bit of hop bite.
