A type of lager beer made from barley malt, hops and ponlai rice, with a golden hue and unique taste, it is honored world-wide.

Slight hop and malt aroma. Medium modied, crisp, mildly bitter with solvent like chemical taste that lingers in mouth after swollowing. At 99 cents for a 22oz bottle, it gets the job done.

So I got the can at Beers of the World. I hope it is a bottle conditioned can because I got a ton of floaties in here. The beer pours a murky golden with the floaties and a thin white head. Sweet yeasty nose of candi sugar and pears. The initial sensation is water, but there is a lot of funky sweetness in it. Spoiled orange juice, white sugar, copper penny and aluminum can. It does have an almost Belgian sweetness to it, but it just tastes clumsy.

Bottled. Pours a clear golden, with a white head. Aroma is malty and hoppy. Staste is sweet, with just a tad hoppy bitterness. A rather bland beer.

Thin. Little in the way of smell. Kind of sweet, I think. My negative opinion ould have something to do with the fact that I tried to bottom-open the can and it blew up all over me.

Grainy flavour. Bitter aftertaste, with a light taste. Not a bad beer, better than I expected.

Bottle-Typical Asian Lager look, clear light/medium Gold. White head. Scent of wet cardboard, some sweetness. Vegetal, sweet, papery. Medium body, a lower end of the scale brew, even by Asian standards.

Bottle: Very pale yellow with a dinkus white head. Although not listed in the ingredients, I picked of a whiff of corn syrup sweetness in the faint aroma. Mayhaps a touch of floral hops. Not in the taste, though. It was more reminiscent of the aroma belched out from the Argo plant outside of the city (Chicago), corn byproducts, a hit of starch. It finishes on a watery, sweet note with a dash of metallica.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2006 Got no aromas from this pale yellow brew with filmy oil slick of a head. Itís flavor was soapy with lemon. It wants to be bitter, but canít quite make it there.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2006 600 ml. bottle. Feel like I should rate the local brew. This is actually the variety I prefer from Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor (TTL), I avoid the "Gold Label" Taiwan Beer, as it is a piss poor beer and is only marketed to compete for the younger market with foreign brands like Heineken. Taiwan Beer pours yellow with lasting foam head. Flavor is extremely heavy corn, blandness with a background of rotting vegetables. Some relatively pleasant bitterness and generic hop flavor along with a slight taste of alcohol. Aftertaste is more rotting vegetables and some lingering bitterness. I actually notice a lot less sweetness than other kinds of Taiwan Beer (i.e. Gold Medal Taiwan Beer), and perhaps that is why I actually consider it drinkable. Very carbonated. Best if consumed very cold, in large quantities in a park in Taiwan on uneventful night. Oh yeah, be aware that this beer has a tendency to produce awful hangovers.
